International collaborations for data gathering

Institutional Networks and SDG Metrics
JGU plays a leading role in international networks dedicated to monitoring and evaluating SDG progress, such as HESI, AACSB, and Nature Positive Universities. Membership in these collaborative platforms facilitates access to shared sustainability metrics, best practice benchmarks, and university performance data. At JGU, these collaborations help generate critical information on campus carbon footprints, biodiversity efforts, and progress in implementing green finance and environmental policies, driving improvements in accountability and institutional learning.

Leadership in Regional and Global Data Initiatives
As the lead host institution for APAIE 2025, themed “Cultivating Global Citizens for the Future: The Higher Education Imperative in the Asia Pacific and Beyond,” JGU is at the forefront of regional data gathering and capacity building. The university leverages its convening power to catalyze interdisciplinary research, support collaborative exchanges, and empower both students and faculty to engage in impactful trackable research that addresses global challenges. Data collected via these exchanges is used to inform regional policies and drive innovation in education for sustainability and inclusion.

Driving Environmental Accountability: CANIE Accord Commitments
JGU’s commitment to the CANIE Accord demonstrates a proactive approach to integrating social, economic, and environmental perspectives in its strategy and operations. Within this context, the university collaborates with other stakeholders to establish coordinated mechanisms for climate action including collaborative data collection, shared surveys, and sector-wide performance tracking. By supporting think tanks and research initiatives, JGU helps design policy options that incentivize climate-focused practices and works jointly on research into the nexus of climate change, global education, and social justice.

Ensuring Impact through Diversity and Advanced Methods
The university’s international collaborations incorporate advanced data-gathering approaches, including qualitative and quantitative surveys, longitudinal studies, and interdisciplinary networks for SDG research. These projects address multiple dimensions such as greenhouse gas emissions, energy stewardship, poverty reduction, and diversity and inclusion, allowing JGU to remain adaptable and responsive to emerging challenges.
