International collaboration and research for SDG best practice

Collaborative Platforms and Research Integration

International partnerships are a cornerstone of JGU's research and academic strategy, weaving global expertise into the university’s engagement with sustainability and social impact. JGU’s co-hosting of major gatherings such as the APAIE Conference in 2025, and active participation on platforms like HESI and Nature Positive Universities, enhance SDG project visibility while forming the backbone for new collaborations with prominent institutions worldwide. Through these alliances, JGU sustains ongoing knowledge sharing, faculty exchanges, joint grant proposals, and the creation of vibrant research communities dedicated to addressing critical issues from climate action to human rights.

Institutional and Thematic MoUs Driving Joint Impact

One notable partnership is the Memorandum of Understanding between the Jindal School of Art & Architecture (JSAA) and the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE), signed in September 2024. This collaboration drives joint research, knowledge exchange, and capacity building in sustainable, energy-efficient design—reflecting a growing portfolio of institution-to-institution projects that link JGU to national and global best practice.

Cross-Institutional Dialogue and Conference Leadership

JGU’s work with the University of Melbourne, culminating in the joint conference "Envisioning Shared Futures of Education: Australia and India’s Global Potential," brought senior leadership and scholars together to seed long-term collaboration in global education. Such events not only showcase JGU as a convenor of international thought leadership but also facilitate tangible research, programmatic, and policy outcomes.

Faculty-Led Global Research Networks

JGU faculty are active contributors to both interdisciplinary and regionally focused research, often producing open-access publications and building new advisory and scholar networks. For example, Professor Deepanshu Mohan’s appointment as Visiting Professor to the LSE’s Southeast Asia Centre and his research in Cambodia have established enduring scholarly partnerships across institutions and continents, informing policies and supporting international research.

Commitment to Climate Action and the CANIE Accord

As a signatory to the CANIE Accord, JGU is publicly committed to climate-conscious higher education. This includes forging coordinated approaches with international partners to integrate climate action into academic policy, lead sector-wide data collection, and champion research at the intersection of sustainability, education, and social justice.

Highlighted Collaborative Research Outputs
