With the exponential growth in the number of schools, faculty, staff, and students at O.P. Jindal Global University, the complexity of academic processes, perspectives, courses, and stakeholder aspirations has also increased significantly. Further, JGU’s vision and mission of interdisciplinarity require graduates to possess transferable skills suited to diverse fields of employment, along with a deep understanding of and respect for diversity and pluralistic societies.
To address these evolving academic needs, a central university-level office was envisioned to facilitate and coordinate teaching and learning in an integrated, efficient, and collaborative manner. The Office of Academic Planning, Co-ordination and Interdisciplinarity (APCI) was announced on 31 January 2017 and became operational on 1 May 2017.
“To foster an integrated, interdisciplinary, and student-centric academic ecosystem that strengthens academic excellence, innovation, flexibility, and collaboration across JGU.”
APCI works towards creating a seamless and flexible academic environment that empowers students with greater academic choice, interdisciplinary exposure, and efficient access to academic information and processes. Through coordinated academic planning and cross-school engagement, APCI supports a holistic and future-oriented learning experience for students across the university.
The mandate of APCI is threefold:
This includes optimization of resources such as classrooms and faculty, to ensure that course information is readily available to faculty and students.
This office acts as a repository for academic data across all schools, in conjunction with the OPJGU IT team. The APCI also work towards harmonising school-level policies and practices and compliance with the same.
The APCI provides a report on cross registration, engages with Deans/ Academic Deans to identify courses that are relevant to be Cross-Registered and drives a vision of interdisciplinarity for the university.
