From the Director’s Desk

At the Office of Career Services (OCS) - Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), we believe that career development is an ongoing journey, one that requires continuous learning, introspection, and adaptation.

The approach that we adopt at OCS is dynamic and personalized to the requirements of our students. From the moment students are inducted for their programmes, we work closely with them to identify their core strengths, areas of interest, and career goals. We provide them support through career counselling and resume building sessions, personal development workshops, interview preparation, and networking events, to ensure that our students are well-equipped to make informed career decisions.

The OCS collaborates with employers to facilitate internships and recruitments, making the transition from law student to legal professional as seamless as possible. These partnerships are a testament to the exceptional talent, academic rigor, and professionalism that JGLS graduates consistently demonstrate. Our recruiters, ranging from top-tier law firms and multinational corporations to government bodies and non-profit organizations, recognize the unique value that our students bring to the workplace.

We take immense pride in cultivating and sustaining strong relationships with leading legal employers, both in India and across the globe. By nurturing these strategic alliances, we not only provide our students with access to diverse and prestigious career opportunities but also ensure that they are well-positioned to thrive in the ever-evolving legal landscape. About the Office of Career Services- Jindal Global Law School

The Office of Career Services-JGLS set students up for career success by supporting them in their search for short-term and long-term internships, pursuing their higher education aspirations, guiding them in the job search process and training them on employability skills. At OCS, we operate with the intention of keeping the students’ best interest in mind. We strive to provide them the best opportunities by collaborating with the top organisations that are based in India and abroad.

Our Focus

With our outreach initiatives and networking, we aim to build strong interpersonal relationships, to provide quality internship and placement opportunities to our students. The team actively engages with top law firms, corporates, government and non-governmental organisations, think tanks, banking, financial services and insurance sector, pharmaceutical industry, FMCG Sector, media and entertainment, and top tech companies to seek potential collaboration opportunities in diverse and upcoming sectors.

The OCS-JGLS facilitates an array of services and resources like one-on-one counselling sessions, open-houses, resume and cover letter writing workshops, interest-based and sector-wise soft skills training, industry curated courses and networking opportunities that are aimed to assist the students in their career development.

The OCS-JGLS believes in cultivating relationships that are mutually beneficial for both the recruiters as well as the university. Formal agreements in the form of MOUs are also signed with the law firms that form the framework between the concerned parties. The MOUs seek to establish a close and wide-ranging relationship of mutual benefit involving cooperation in various areas such as education, seminars and conferences, research, publications, & internship and recruitment.

Internships

At JGLS we follow a Structured Internship Programme. As part of the programme, students are required to complete their internships during their semester breaks (“Internship Period”), i.e., in the ‘Summer Break’ and the ‘Winter Break’, respectively.

Internships are a key component of a student’s career development. It is the practical experience gained through internships that enhances a student’s profile and enriches their skill set. The varied internship options provided by OCS gives the students a chance to explore diverse and emerging areas of law to get to the path that is most suited for their professional career.

Each programme has a designated SPOC (special point of contact) member who provides personal counselling for ideal career progression. The OCS- JGLS facilitates and supports all students to attain internships each semester. The methodology adopted has been well thought and devised in correlation with the semester specific academic curriculum.

The OCS-JGLS presents internship opportunities based on the course structure, requirements and students key interest areas. The varied opportunities are posted regularly on the portal available to all interested students. The larger aim is to help students stay academically focused by building a strong connection between classroom learning and practical exposure gained during their internships.

The OCS team efforts are driven to provide students a chance to connect with employers from diverse sectors and industries. The internships are beneficial to the students and the organisations, as a fresh pool of talent serves as a catalyst to their ongoing functions. The OCS follows a well-structured internship programme, that lays out a route map for the students. The team does the groundwork- from finding the right internship opportunities, preparing the students and streamlining the entire process.

The OCS acts as a mediator, facilitating communication and ensuring a smooth experience for both the parties. The OCS also has a policy in place that establishes clear expectations from the students and provides them with clear guidelines for promoting responsible internship participation.

Placements

The Office of Career Services- JGLS bridges the gap between academia and industry, providing robust career support that prepares students to meet the demands of top recruiters. OCS empowers students to confidently navigate the placement process and achieve their career goals.

At OCS we organize Day Zero, Day One and placement drives—highly anticipated events where prestigious law firms and companies conduct interviews and make job offers. These events set the stage for early recruitment, allowing students to secure positions before graduation. We also organise Pre-placement sessions, prior to Day Zero and Day One, to provide an overview of company cultures, job roles, and recruiter expectations, helping students make informed decisions about their career paths. Students also get Pre-Placement Offers from firms where they have had the chance to previously intern in their semester break.

Day Zero: Organized at the beginning of their final Year, it is a significant recruitment drive in the students placement calendar, where top law firms vie to hire the brightest talents. The participating firms are hosted on campus or virtually- as per their preference to conduct their hiring processes.

Day One: Following Day Zero, Day One continues the momentum with more firms joining the recruitment process, ensuring that students have a multitude of opportunities.

Beyond these structured events, OCS-JGLS conducts the placement process of several firms on a rolling basis, ensuring continuous opportunities for the students.
