OCAM collaborates with law firms, corporate entities, and other organisations to develop industry-curved courses on practical legal subjects and areas of practice, including corporate transactions, dispute resolution, intellectual property rights, securities law, and legal technology. OCAM regularly organises training workshops, guest lectures, and expert sessions focused on professional skills such as networking, curriculum vitae development, interview preparation, and understanding emerging industry trends. Through sustained engagement with industry and employers in India and globally, OCAM also facilitates internships and recruitment opportunities that reflect the quality and professionalism of JGLS students.

Associate Professor of Legal Practice & Director, Office of Career Advancement and Mentorship (OCAM), JGLS.
OCAM at JGLS is founded with the aim to nurture the professional aspirations of every student through thoughtful guidance, meaningful mentorship and access to opportunities. Comprising faculty members, administrative staff, and a committed professional team, OCAM’s primary role will be advisory and facilitative. It is established as a dedicated space for guidance, reflection and support in students’ evolving professional journey.
Rooted in the belief that meaningful careers are shaped through informed choice and sustained mentorship, OCAM seeks to accompany students at various stages of their development by encouraging exploration of diverse career pathways and helping them discern their individual interests and aspirations.
At the heart of our vision is a deeper commitment to personalised growth through the Loyalty Programme, which provides focused, long-term mentorship to students who choose to engage with OCAM. This is designed to offer continuous counselling, targeted support and curated opportunities aligned with a student’s evolving aspirations. It recognises that a student’s career path may change over time and therefore requires sustained guidance and reflection at different levels.
With our outreach initiatives and networking, we aim to build strong interpersonal relationships, to make best efforts to assist in getting quality internship and placement opportunities for our students. The team actively engages with top law firms, corporates, government and non-governmental organisations, think tanks, banking, financial services and insurance sector, pharmaceutical industry, FMCG Sector, media and entertainment, and top tech companies to seek potential collaboration opportunities.
OCAM facilitates support through one-on-one counselling sessions, open-houses, resume and cover letter writing workshops, interest-based and sector-wise soft skills training, industry curated courses and networking opportunities that are aimed to assist the students in their career development.
OCAM believes in cultivating relationships that are mutually beneficial for the students, recruiters as well as the university. Formal agreements in the form of MOUs are also signed with the law firms and organisations that form the framework between the concerned parties. The MOUs seek to establish a close and wide-ranging relationship of mutual benefit involving cooperation in various areas such as education, seminars and conferences, research, publications, and internship and recruitment.
*Committee on Academic Support for Higher Education and Learning (CASHEL)- CASHEL offers tailored counselling sessions that address individual aspirations, educational profiles, and potential career trajectories; assists students in identifying suitable postgraduate programs aligned with their interests and capacities; and supports them in understanding the processes involved in international university applications.
Internships are a key component of a student’s career development. It is the practical experience gained through internships that enhances a student’s profile and enriches their skill set. The varied internship options provided by OCAM give the students a chance to explore diverse and emerging areas of law to identify the path that is most suited for their professional career.
Each programme has a designated SPOC (Single Point Of Contact) from OCAM team, who provides personal counselling for ideal career progression. OCAM facilitates and supports students in attaining internships each semester. The methodology adopted has been well thought out and devised in correlation with the semester specific academic curriculum.
OCAM presents internship opportunities based on the course structure, requirements and students’ key interest areas. The varied opportunities are posted regularly on the portal available to JGLS students enrolled under the Loyalty Programme. The larger aim is to help students stay academically focused by building a strong connection between classroom learning and practical exposure gained during their internships.
OCAM team’s efforts are driven to provide students a chance to connect with employers from diverse sectors and industries. The internships are beneficial to both the students and the organisations, as a fresh pool of talent serves as a catalyst to their ongoing functions. OCAM follows a well-structured internship programme, that lays out a route map for the students. The team does the groundwork from finding the right internship opportunities, preparing the students and streamlining the entire process.
OCAM acts as a mediator, facilitating communication and ensuring a smooth experience for both the parties. OCAM also has a policy in place that establishes expectations from the students and provides them with clear guidelines for promoting responsible internship participation.
OCAM bridges the gap between academia and industry, providing robust career support that prepares students to meet the demands of top recruiters. OCAM empowers students to confidently navigate the placement process and achieve their career goals.
At OCAM, we organize Day Zero, Day One, Placement Week and subsequent placement drives that are highly anticipated events where prestigious law firms, litigation chambers and organisations conduct interviews and make job offers. These events set the stage for early recruitment, allowing students to secure positions before graduation. We also organise Pre-placement sessions, prior to Day Zero and Day One, to provide an overview of company cultures, job roles, and recruiter expectations, helping students make informed decisions about their career paths. Students also get Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) from firms where they have had the chance to previously intern in their semester break.
Beyond these structured events, OCAM-JGLS conducts the placement process of several firms on a rolling basis, ensuring continuous opportunities for the students.

The OCAM also organizes several trainings, workshops and guest lectures for students with the objective of significantly enhancing their academic and career development. In these sessions, the focus is on specific skills such as technical skill development by industry experts, crafting effective CVs, preparing for personal interviews and group discussion rounds. The guest lectures and Alumni talks are organized with the aim to provide insights on the evolving industry trends, career guidance and job search strategies.
