State of the Art Facilities

Inaugurated in September 2025, the Naveen Jindal Sports Academy (NJSA) was established to support JGU’s intention of becoming a globally-recognised centre of excellence for sports training, education, and research, fostering the next generation of elite athletes, coaches, and sports professionals.

JGU established the NJSA in honour of the university’s Chancellor, Mr. Naveen Jindal, an active polo player, a national record holder in skeet shooting, and a prominent voice for the integration of sports into the education system.
The NJSA provides students with world-class facilities which support swimming, athletics, basketball, badminton, volleyball, shooting, squash, dance and yoga, combat sports, table tennis, snooker, pool, and an expansive gymnasium and physiotherapy centre to support overall health and wellbeing.

Sports Fields & Courts

We boast a range of well-maintained sports fields and courts, featuring a cricket ground illuminated by powerful floodlights, dedicated football and hockey fields, multiple basketball and tennis courts, a Kabaddi and MMA practice arena, a volleyball court, and badminton Courts. Whether you’re an aspiring athlete or enjoy recreational play, JGU’s facilities provide ample opportunities to showcase your skills and participate in friendly matches, internal tournaments, or even compete for JGU’s official teams.

Indoor Sports – the NJSA

The Naveen Jindal Sports Academy is available to students, faculty and staff alike and caters for a wide range of fitness, recreational and competition needs.

  • Swimming pool: our 50-metre, 8-lane swimming pool provides swimmers with the ability to swim and train year-round. Lanes are reserved for casual and recreational swimmers, as well as competitive types including the JGU swim team which trains here daily. Lifeguards and instructors are always on hand, while a splash pool provides a safe space for children to play.
  • Sankalp arena: is a multi-purpose hall which can accommodate basketball, volleyball or badminton. The hardcourt can host these sports for training and recreation simultaneously or be configured to showcase a standalone sport with 1440 arena seats, making it perfect for competitions, or other non-sporting events.
  • Athletics track: the five-lane, 333m track encircles the NJSA and is a favourite of runners, walkers and as a training facility for our athletics team.
  • Shooting range: The 10-metre range is set aside for competitive shooting training and features an electronic target system to ensure shooting accuracy and training efficiency.
  • Squash courts: our six-court complex is built to World Squash standards and includes maple wood flooring, LED lighting and two show courts that provide elevated seating for spectators during competitions.  
  • Gymnasium: spread across nearly 2000 sqm, accommodating nearly 300 users at once, our expansive gymnasium has themed zones based on workout activity, which include cardio, strength, functional, and mind-body. The gym features stationary bikes, ellipticals, weight machines, free weights, medicine balls, hyrox-style workout stations, as well as an area for combat sports including a boxing ring, and a dojo for judo, taekwondo and jujitsu.
  • The Gameloft Arena: serves recreational users with a wide range of games and fun activities in a relaxed environment. The arena features heated snooker tables, table tennis tables, pool tables, and for more casual pursuits, also includes foosball and air hockey tables.
  • Yoga & dance hall: is meant for biophysical activities like yoga, dance, and high-energy aerobic activity like Zumba. As a yoga room, the space is tranquil and settles the mind, and when it is a Zumba room, it has all the euphoria of music and dance floors.
  • Physiotherapy centre: has advanced equipment and expert physiotherapists available throughout the NJSA’s opening hours. The physiotherapy centre provides services like risk assessments, personal exercise programmes, biomechanical exercises, acute care, and rehabilitation.

Sports & Recreation Programs

Inter-University Competitions

JGU actively participates in major inter-university sports tournaments, allowing competition-level athletes to represent the university and compete against other institutions. These events provide a platform to showcase your talent, foster team spirit, and build lasting friendships with fellow athletes.

Sports Leagues & Teams

The JGU Sports Society, in collaboration with the organising committee heads of each league, organises internal JGU leagues for all major sports. Students of all levels can participate in these leagues alongside university representative team members. Coaches and captains also coordinate daily team practices, friendly matches, and intra-college events, providing valuable opportunities for skill development and personal growth.

Recreational Activities

In addition to competitive sports, we encourage recreational activities that promote leisure, relaxation, and overall wellbeing. From yoga and meditation classes to organised hikes and outdoor excursions, there are plenty of options to rejuvenate your mind and body outside of the sporting arena.

Sports Academies

JGU hosts sports academies led by experienced coaches and trainers in various disciplines. These academies offer specialised training programmes for individuals who wish to excel in specific sports, providing guidance and mentorship to help you reach your full athletic potential.
