In line with the goal 11.2, which talks about access to safe, affordable and sustainable transport systems for all, JGU is committed to supporting and investing in sustainable modes of transport.
JGU provides a free shuttle service to campus and back for all staff and faculty members living in the vicinity of the campus. The shuttle service is available at regular intervals across the week to encourage people to avoid using personal vehicles. This facility greatly reduces the use of fossil fuels.
JGU also supports sustainable commuting beyond the campus for staff, faculty and students by offering a highly subsidised transportation system to the nearest metro station.
Personal vehicles are strictly prohibited within the campus itself and movement inside is facilitated by electronic golf carts.
To reduce carbon emissions and promote clean mobility, there are 40+ EVs and 15 EV charging stations in the University. Within the campus, only eco-friendly, battery-operated golf carts are permitted. Additionally, bicycle-friendly pathways encourage sustainable commuting, further supporting our green transport policy.
Emissions linked to employee commuting are included in our Scope 3 Emissions accounting and reporting, which contributes to tracking progress for our Net Zero emissions target for 2035.
