At JGU, we recognize that water is a scarce and valuable resource, and we take active steps to ensure its responsible use. Groundwater extraction is carried out carefully via bore wells, and we treat and reuse 100% of the water consumed in campus activities through our Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs).
The STP-treated water is reused in multiple ways:
By reusing wastewater across these applications, we significantly conserve freshwater and reduce environmental impact.
To enhance efficiency, hot water recirculation pumps keep hot water lines in regular circulation during winters, preventing unnecessary drainage of cold water and ensuring hot water is always available.
In addition, rainwater harvesting pits have been developed across campus to capture rainwater and recharge the groundwater reservoir, supporting long-term water security and sustainability.
Through these measures, JGU demonstrates a holistic approach to sustainable water extraction, combining responsible groundwater use, wastewater reuse, and rainwater management to protect this critical resource for the future.
