About the Report

The Annual Sustainable Development Report 2025 is a comprehensive reflection of JGU’s steadfast commitment to sustainability and its alignment with the 2030 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This document offers insights into the transformative initiatives undertaken at the university to reduce its ecological footprint, improve institutional policies, and embed sustainability principles into research, teaching, and community engagement.

From solar energy integration and green audit evaluations to SDG-focused research and stakeholder collaborations, this report charts the university’s achievements and future vision. With over 525 international collaborations and a strong focus on environmental literacy, JGU continues to lead by example in the higher education sector, fostering a greener, more inclusive, and globally connected academic environment.

Launch Event: Mumbai Sustainability Conclave

The report was officially launched at the Mumbai Sustainability Conclave on 1 May 2025, hosted at Taj Lands End. The event served as a platform for robust dialogue between academia, industry, judiciary, and civil society on the evolving role of higher education in accelerating sustainable development.

Hon’ble Mr. Justice M.S. Sonak, Judge of the Bombay High Court, delivered the inaugural address. He was joined by distinguished JGU representatives including Professor (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, and Professor R. Padmanabha, Dean of Academic Governance. The event featured a cross-sectoral panel discussion focused on collaborative implementation of the SDGs, encouraging knowledge exchange and partnership building.
