Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report

JGU measures its greenhouse gas emissions every year under the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard. An external firm carried out the Scope 1 and Scope 2 accounting for calendar year 2025 (1 January to 31 December).

Overall Scope 1 and 2 emissions in 2025 were the lowest of the years 2023 to 2025. [Insert: reduction against the previous year, to be confirmed.] Scope 3 emissions, from the value chain, are being quantified, and all 15 categories have been screened for relevance.

Carbon-neutral Target

JGU aims to reach net zero emissions across its operations by 2035. The target is measured against the GHG Protocol inventory, with progress reported every year.

What Reduces Our Emissions

On-site solar avoided about 2,096.2 tCO₂e in 2025. Electric golf carts avoided about 60.706 tCO₂e. Campus vegetation stores about 1,713.49 tonnes of CO₂. Paperless examinations avoided 46.08 tonnes of direct CO₂.
