What Makes It Different at JGU

Jindal School of Banking & Finance (JSBF) is a globally recognized institution that offers a four-year fully residential B.Com. (Hons.) degree programme. The school is focused on developing a new generation of leaders for the financial services industry, using a research-led, future-oriented, and interdisciplinary approach. JSBF offers a dynamic and customizable curriculum that is crafted in consultation with industry experts, emphasizing communication and leadership skills. The B.Com. programme is designed to provide students with a global perspective and practical skills that are highly sought-after in the industry.

JSBF offers an interdisciplinary education that draws on the strengths of 12 collaborative schools. Students can choose from four different inter-disciplinary pathways, including Financial Planning & Management, Banking & Finance Law, Fintech & Analytics, and Global Consultancy & Entrepreneurship. The programme offers 100+ optional electives, allowing students to tailor their curriculum to their interests and career goals.
JSBF partners with EY, KPMG, NISM, NSE Academy, and ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, the U.K.) to provide professional certification and training to B.Com. students, enabling them to explore rewarding career opportunities. The school also offers international collaborations, including summer/winter school, short-term study abroad, semester exchange, dual-degree programme, and certification programme.

To be eligible for admission into the B.Com.(Hons.) programme at JSBF requires applicants to have completed the 10+2 level of schooling or its equivalent in humanities, science, or commerce from recognized Boards such as CBSE, ISC, State Boards, IB, Cambridge, and other Government-recognized Boards.

Selection Criteria:
Applicants are selected through a holistic admissions process conducted over three rounds. 

Round 1: Screening of an Application form (includes extracurricular activities and performance in class Xth, XIth, XIIth)

Round 2: Qualify in an Entrance examination
(Jindal Scholastic Aptitude Test – JSAT)

Fee Structure:

Tuition Fee – Rs. 3,50,000 per annum
Residential Fee: Rs. 3,10,000 per annum

The Bachelor of Commerce Honours programme at Jindal School of Banking and Finance (JSBF) is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of contemporary commerce and business practices. The programme curriculum comprises both core and elective courses, which engage students in practices of enquiry, contemplation, and analysis of practical business problems. The teaching methods provide a strong foundation in the subject matter, fostering in-depth learning of the concepts to make students industry-ready for the globalised world.

The core courses of the B. Com programme include Financial Mathematics, Corporate Finance, Financial Technology, Law, Accounting, Economics and Statistics, while the elective courses are comprised of allied fields relating to the core courses. The teaching methods include critical thinking, real-life business case-solving, building professional certifications, and skill-based training on analytical tools such as R, Python, Tableau, and MS Excel.

To obtain a 4-year B. Com. (Hons.), a student needs to complete 180 credits; it covers 164 credits for the core as well as elective courses, and the remaining 16 credits should be earned from other activities that include 08 credits from industry internships and the remaining 08 credits from research, TA ship, and other co-curricular activities.

The B.Com. (Hons.) programme at Jindal School of Banking & Finance is designed to provide students with a unique and customisable curriculum that can cater to their interests and career aspirations.

The programme offers four different pathways that students can choose from: Financial Planning and Risk Management, Banking Laws and Financial Regulations, Fintech and Analytics, and Global Consultancy and Entrepreneurship.

  • The Financial Planning and Risk Management pathway prepares students for a career in the stock markets and includes courses on credit appraisal, behavioural finance, corporate restructuring, and international corporate finance.
  • The Banking Laws and Financial Regulations pathway equips students with knowledge of the intricacies of regulations and guidelines that financial institutions must follow, making them suitable for a career in international law firms, investment banks, accounting firms, international corporations, or as fund managers.
  • The Fintech and Analytics pathway prepares students to apply emerging technologies such as blockchain, robotics, and data analytics to banking and finance.
  • The Global Consultancy and Entrepreneurship pathway provides students with the knowledge and skills required to solve problems faced by organizations as part of global consulting firms or launch new ventures to make the most of new business opportunities.

Students can also choose from various optional electives that cover topics such as data analysis, risk management, management consulting, money in the making of the modern world, social impact and entrepreneurship, global political economy, strategic cost management, renewable energy financing, income tax, and fraud risk assessment and governance mechanisms.

Students can also choose an elective course from the other 11 schools as per their interest.
