- ARTS & HUMANITIES: Ranked #1 Private University in India and #360 in the world for the first time

O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) has once again raised the bar in global higher education with our outstanding performance in the QS Subject Rankings 2025. This year’s rankings are not only a recognition of our enduring excellence but also a testament to our continued expansion into new academic frontiers.
The QS Subject Rankings are among the most prestigious in global academia, evaluating institutions based on rigorous parameters such as academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations, and international collaborations. JGU’s stellar performance in these ranking parameters reflect our relentless pursuit of academic excellence, innovation, and global impact.
To rank the institutions by subject, QS considers academic reputation; employer reputation; research citations; H-index, an index that attempts to measure the stability of impact and quality of the work published by the institution’s scholars; and International Research Network (IRN), a measure of efficiency of establishing stable research collaborations. QS analysed the reputation and research output of over 5,200 institutions. From this group, 1,747 were ranked across 55 narrow subjects and 5 broad subject areas, resulting in over 21,000 entries.
SUBJECT RANKINGS: BROAD SUBJECTS
The QS Subject rankings consists of 50+ narrow subjects across five broad faculty: Arts & Humanities, Engineering & Technology, Life Sciences & Medicine, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences & Management.
JGU offers more than 40+ Degree programmes. These programmes fall under two of QS’s five broad faculty areas:
- Arts & Humanities
JGU has been ranked #1 private university in India and 360th in the world for Arts & Humanities. This ranking is a reflection of our commitment to fostering creativity, critical thinking, and intellectual exploration in disciplines such as literature, philosophy, history, and the arts.
- Social Sciences & Management
In our first-ever ranking in Social Sciences & Management, JGU has been recognized as the #3 private university in India and 274th in the world. This ranking highlights our dynamic and forward-thinking approach to studying social systems, human behavior, and management sciences.
SUBJECT RANKINGS: NARROW SUBJECTS
Social Sciences & Management: Under the Social Sciences & Management broad faculty area, there are 16 Narrow Subjects that QS ranks. Based on the programmes offered and research output, JGU was eligible to participate in 4 Narrow Subjects.
- Law & Legal Studies
For the sixth consecutive year, Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) has been ranked as the #1 Law School in India. This is a phenomenal achievement and underscores our consistent leadership in legal education and research. JGLS continues to be India’s premier university for law, jurisprudence, and legal studies. JGLS offers nine undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, world-class faculty, cutting-edge research, and strong global collaborations, defining the future of legal education in India and beyond.
- Politics & International Studies
For the first time ever, JGU has been ranked as the #1 private university in India for Politics & International Studies and among the top 201-250 universities in the world. This ranking is a clear recognition of the Jindal School of International Affairs (JSIA), Jindal School of Government and Public Policy (JSGP), and Jindal School of Liberal Arts and Humanities (JSLH) as schools that are shaping global policy discourse, governance, and diplomacy.
- JSIA offers five undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in International Relations and Politics, available in both residential and online modes.
- JSGP offers four undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Economics and Public Policy, delivered in residential and online formats.
- JSLH offers five undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Liberal Arts, Humanities, and Fine Arts, with options for residential and online learning.
- Economics & Econometrics
For the first time, JGU has been ranked #2 among private universities in India and among the top 551-700 universities in the world for Economics & Econometrics. Jindal School of Government and Public Policy (JSGP) & Jindal School of Banking and Finance (JSBF) have played a pivotal role in advancing economic research, policy analysis, and financial studies.
- JSGP offers four undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Economics and Public Policy, delivered in residential and online formats.
- JSBF offers six undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Commerce, Finance, and Entrepreneurship, available in both residential and online formats.
- Business & Management Studies
Jindal Global Business School (JGBS) continues to excel in business education, securing #6 position among private business schools in India and among the top 451-500 universities in the world. This ranking is a reflection of our industry-oriented curriculum, global partnerships, and experiential learning approach, preparing future leaders and entrepreneurs.
