Sonipat: Highlighting the value of ‘imandari' (integrity) in the legal profession, Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice Surya Kant said that it is not merely an ornament to character but the discipline that upholds both justice and reputation."In an era where truth must compete with noise, where deepfakes distort reality, misinformation multiplies, and digital arrests have become disturbingly routine, the CJI stressed that integrity and honesty are no longer lofty ideals but instruments of survival," he said. Drawing from experience, the CJI noted that they remain the only legitimate shortcut to genuine success.

Justice Surya Kant was speaking at the opening of the International Convention on Independence of the Judiciary at OP Jindal Global University in Sonipat on Saturday. Addressing young law students, he said that the constitution will endure only as long as morality sustains it. Urging students to uphold the highest standards of character, he said, "Let integrity be the basic structure of your character, and let nothing amend it.
