Learning and Development at JGU organises events

Learning and Development (L&D) at JGU concluded the first cluster of the certified 'Strengthening Behavioural Skills for Professional Success' programme in August and September. The inaugural cluster, 'Personal and Interpersonal Effectiveness',  was conducted in collaboration with Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences in which participants deepened their capabilities across focal areas of Cultivating Emotional Intelligence, The Art of Constructive Feedback, Mindful Leadership, and Managing Stress Through Self-Care.

The second cluster, 'Thriving in Teams and Digital Spaces', is scheduled to run from  mid-October to  December. This cluster will focus on essential collaborative competencies, preparing participants to excel in complex, high-performing teams and navigate modern digital workspaces effectively.

The Wellbeing Circle: L&D launches Physio-PATH Series

In March, L&D began the Wellbeing Circle Initiative by holding guided workshops, awareness campaigns, and expert consultations. The sessions in March covered areas such as nutrition, stress management, mindfulness, first aid, and basic life support. To promote physical wellbeing at work, L&D  has also launched the Physio-PATH series in collaboration with the Office of Physiotherapy and Sports Sciences at JGU. This series aims to create awareness and provide relief about better posture, improved ergonomics, and healthy workplace habits that reduce musculoskeletal pain. L&D will announce more sessions of the Wellbeing Circle: Physio-PATH series shortly.

Readers' Club Takes Flight: A Vibrant 'Third Space' for Peer Connection at JGU

L&D introduced its new initiative, the Learning Communities, to create peer-led, professional forums where faculty and staff can connect beyond their daily roles. Envisioned as a 'third space' at the workplace, these communities provide a platform to engage over shared interests and topics, fostering experiential learning and rich peer knowledge-sharing across the JGU ecosystem.

The pilot Learning Community, the Readers' Club, brought together both avid readers and those eager to inculcate the reading habit, connecting them through compelling reads and conversations. The first meeting of the Readers' Club, held on August 28, invited participants to  share their favourite books and engage in lively discussions on the core themes and contexts of literature. Conversations  included topics such as performative reading, the differences between reading fiction vs. non-fiction, how early reads defined participants' personal trajectories, and the collective evolution of reading as a habit.

The second  meeting, titled 'Kavita aur Kahaniyan' (Poetry and Stories), took place on September 18.  Participants were encouraged to read their favourite poems or share their own original creations, along with the personal stories behind them. The session explored elements of language, form, rhythm, meter, and genre. Some attendees shared their own poetry before an audience for the very first time, while others interacted with the poets, probing the creative process and mindset required to compose poetry. To provide the attendees a chance to tap into their creative side, a 'Black-out Poetry' activity was arranged in which participants were provided with pages of existing literature and instructed to black-out individual words, forming a new piece that resembled a poem.
