JIBS film selected for screening at 11th Zuma Film Festival

Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences (JIBS) documentary 'Uljhan' has bagged another official selection at an international film festival. The film was officially selected for screening at the 11th Zuma Film Festival. The festival, organised by the Nigerian Film Corporation, is the country’s foremost film festival held annually in its capital Abuja in collaboration with the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

'Uljhan' is a poignant 40-minute documentary that delves deep into the lives of families raising children on the autism spectrum in India. The film confronts societal misconceptions, highlights the relentless efforts of families, and showcases the critical role of grassroots organisations in destigmatising autism.

Author Workshop Series

JIBS's Methodology Leaning Circle organised an online Author Workshop Series in collaboration with Elsevier. The workshop was conducted by Ms. Oluwatooni Akinkuotu, Associate Publisher, Elsevier. The initiative aimed to empower students, faculty, and Ph.D. scholars in social sciences with advanced insights into academic publishing and scientific writing.

The series covered the topic 'Navigating the Publishing Process: Tips and Best Practices for Publishing Your Research'. The workshop offered a unique opportunity to learn directly from a publisher, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to excel in their academic and professional journey.

JIBS conducts Training Session at Anganwadi Centre

As part of the outreach initiative and continuation of the Awareness for Community Transformation (ACT) clinic's collaboration with NGO Rocket Learning, Dr. Amrita Roy and Dr. Dahunlyne Shylla conducted a training session at Anganwadi Centre, Dewru, on December 18. The session aimed at equipping Anganwadi workers and parents with practical knowledge and skills in using reinforcement techniques to facilitate learning among pre-schoolers.

The session started with a discussion of what parents usually do to promote or impede a child's behaviour. It focused on helping participants utilise positive reinforcement techniques, such as praise, immediate feedback, and star charts, by demonstrating their application in everyday scenarios. It also discussed how some of these techniques and delayed gratification can be used to manage behavioural issues commonly observed among preschool age groups. The session ended with parents and Anganwadi workers sharing how they can use these techniques at home and learning centers.
