JIBS faculty awarded

 
Dr. Vipin Vijay Nair, Associate Professor at Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences (JIBS), has been bestowed the 'National Award for Excellence in Forensic Psychology'. This award recognises Dr. Nair's outstanding contribution to the advancement of forensic science and forensic psychology in India.

The published study on 'The Experience of Gerotranscendence in the Indian Context', co-authored by Dr. Shilpa Bandyopadhyay, Assistant Professor, JIBS, has been selected by Mather Institute as a Silver Award recipient of the 2025 Innovative Research on Aging Awards. Now in their 10th year, the awards were created by Mather Institute to inspire evidence-based next practices that can improve the lives of older adults.

Airtel Business CMO delivers guest lecture at JIBS

JIBS hosted Mr. Kaustubh Chandra, Chief Marketing Officer & Head of Digital Sales Group at Airtel Business, for a guest lecture on the theme "The Human Algorithm - Why Authenticity Outperforms Any Playbook!"

Mr. Chandra emphasised the critical role of authenticity in contemporary marketing and business leadership. He highlighted how genuine connections and trust can outperform traditional strategies in building enduring brands and fostering meaningful engagement.

Beyond the rich academic and professional insights, the session offered an opportunity to interact with and learn directly from a senior industry leader. The interactive Q&A session that followed encouraged students to explore ideas in depth.

'Future Ready Thursdays' series

This series was supervised by Dr. Shilpa Bandyopadhyay and Ms. Sonia Rani and conducted by Dr. Ragland Thomas Gamaliel, Prof. Maneka Nair, Prof. Kaveri Gupta and Dr. Finita Roy, who together brought diverse expertise and insights to the initiative.

The final session was conducted by Dr. Ragland Thomas Gamaliel, Associate Professor of Practice on the topic "Embracing Uncertainty & Change". The final session was followed by the valedictory session of the series. Prof. (Dr.) Pulkit Khanna, Dean of JIBS, awarded certificates of mastery to students who successfully attended and completed all sessions of this 5-hour workshop series.

CCFS organises Mock Trail

The Centre for Criminology and Forensic Studies (CCFS) at JIBS organised 'Mock Trial Showdown: Forensic Evidence on Display'. The event brought together student participants from across various schools of JGU, where they showcased their skills by debating for and against the fictional accused based on the forensic evidence presented.

Masterclass on the role of school mental health experts

Master's students in Child Psychology, Community Psychology, and Psychosocial Rehabilitation at JIBS attended a masterclass titled "Supporting Students, Empowering Teachers: The Collaborative Role of School Mental Health Experts" delivered by Ms. Munazzah Reshi, a seasoned school mental health professional. The session highlighted how mental health experts act as a bridge between students, parents, and school environments, creating an ecosystem that fosters overall child wellbeing.

Masterclass by Sangath

JIBS hosted a Masterclass on "Community-Based Approaches to Early Childhood Development - Lessons from Sangath". The speakers were Mr. Reetabrata Roy, Implementation Scientist, and Ms. Sweta Pal, Public Engagement Professional, at Sangath India.

Mr. Roy provided an overview of Sangath's pioneering work in advancing early childhood development across India and South Asia, particularly in low-resource settings. He highlighted scalable strategies such as video-based parenting programmes that improve child nutrition, responsive caregiving, and developmental outcomes during the critical first 1,000 days of life.

Ms. Pal elaborated on the NAMASTE programme, an initiative designed for the early detection of neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) and enabling families to access timely and appropriate care. She spoke about how the programme integrates community-level workers into the care pathway, thereby addressing gaps in early diagnosis and intervention for children with developmental needs.

CVPS organises masterclass

The Centre for Victimology & Psychological Studies (CVPS), JIBS, organised a masterclass lecture on "From Trauma to Recovery: Understanding the Psychological Rehabilitation of Survivors and their Families".
The session was delivered by Dr. Shalini Mittal, Assistant Professor of Psychology, School of Liberal Arts, Bennett University.

Dr. Mittal provided deep insights into the psychological processes of trauma and recovery, emphasising the importance of psychosocial support for survivors and their families. She also highlighted current research directions and practical methods for rehabilitation, which engaged students meaningfully.

CLC conducts masterclass

The Centre for Leadership & Change (CLC), JIBS hosted a masterclass conducted by Mr. Bhushan Kumar, Principal Behaviour Architect at Fractal Analytics, who shared invaluable insights on the applications of behavioural science & design in solving real-world challenges. Through interactive discussions and practical examples, students explored habit adoption, customer engagement, risk and safety, and the broader career opportunities in this exciting field.

Session on HR Strategies

JIBS hosted a masterclass on "HR as the Strategic Co-Pilot to the CEO" by Prerna Rajan, Vice President and Global Business HR Head at Damco Solutions.

Drawing from over two decades of global leadership experience, she highlighted how HR can move beyond its traditional role to become a true business partner and growth driver. She emphasised how business acumen is central to HR leadership, enabling professionals to align human capital strategies with enterprise goals.

Interactive carousal

Students of MSc Psychosocial Rehabilitation at JIBS, curated an interactive carousel focusing on the vulnerability of a parentified child. The students collectively explored how the experience and impact of parentification manifest at different stages in a person's life, from childhood through adolescence and adulthood to old age.

Each station of the carousel addressed distinct challenges and psychosocial outcomes encountered by parentified children at various life stages, along with key vulnerabilities, risks, and possible interventions relevant to special age groups, supported by case scenarios and practical discussions and insights collected through open dialogue with peers, faculty, and university staff.

Session on creative art therapy

A session titled 'Introduction to Creative Art Therapy: An Experiential Exploration' was conducted for Master's students of Child Psychology and Psychosocial Rehabilitation at JIBS by Ms Shruti Garg, a queer affirmative, trauma-focused therapist and stand-up comedian. The session aimed to familiarise students with the use of creative techniques in therapeutic contexts, highlighting the role of expression in enhancing emotional awareness and psychosocial well-being.

Ms Garg, along with her student Ms Khushi Bhasin (an alumnus of JIBS who is now training at VIMHANS in creative arts), took the students on a journey of the integration of movement and art-based activities, creating a highly engaging and interactive learning environment. Students had the opportunity to participate in experiential exercises that not only encouraged self-expression but also provided practical insights into the application of expressive modalities in clinical and rehabilitative settings.

Workshop series

JIBS concluded its 'Future Quest Industry Readiness Workshop' series. Structured as a four-session learning journey held every Thursday in September 2025, the programme was designed exclusively for students to prepare them for the evolving world of work.

Facilitated by Dr. Ragland Thomas G, who brings a unique blend of industry and academic experience, the sessions equipped students with the insights and practical skills to thrive in a competitive workplace and transition confidently from campus to career. Each session focused on a distinct theme - Knowing Themselves, Knowing the Industry, Knowing their Skills, and Knowing their Careers - creating a holistic pathway to prepare students for the industry.
