The 14th Convocation of JGU this year will be held on its campus on July 29 and 30. The Convocation will return to the JGU campus after many years and will be held in the newly built Multipurpose Hall of the Naveen Jindal Sports Academy (NJSA) located on the campus.
The Convocation will be historic, as, for the first time, JGU will celebrate the graduation of over 4,400 students across all its Schools and Institutes. In the early years, JGU hosted the convocation on its campus. However, over the past several years, JGU has been hosting the convocation at venues with a larger seating capacity in Delhi as the university's number of graduating students has increased significantly.
However, with the availability of the new Multipurpose Hall of the NJSA, JGU is now able to bring the convocation experience back to the JGU campus. The Multipurpose Hall of the NJSA has a seating capacity of 2,500. Celebrating the convocation on the JGU campus also means that students graduate from the institutional spaces where they spent their transformative years.
Every year, JGU has hosted the convocation on August 7 to mark the Founder's Day and the Birthday of Shri O.P. Jindal. Since JGU has decided to bring the convocation ceremony back to the JGU campus, hosting the Convocation on August 7 will pose significant logistical challenges, as the university will have more than 10,000 newly admitted and returning students on the JGU campus. Therefore, JGU has decided to advance the Convocation ceremony to the last week of July to ease logistical challenges and to ensure a pleasant, graceful, and memorable convocation experience for graduating students, their relatives, and members of the JGU community. As a result, the University would be able to efficiently oversee and manage the convocation ceremony and onboarding of newly admitted and returning students.
JGU will begin the new academic session for the Spring Semester 2025 on Monday, 4 August. This change would allow the University a few days in between for focused logistical planning and onboarding newly admitted and returning students before classes that begin on August 4.
To preserve the sanctity and ceremonial nature of the solemn occasion, the convocation will be conducted in multiple sessions spread over two days. Graduating students and their relatives would be invited to participate in the convocation ceremony on the specific date and session allocated to their School and Institute.
