JGU establishes Jindal Institute of Haryana Studies

JGU has established the Jindal Institute of Haryana Studies (JIHS) to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the creation of the state of Haryana. This institute will be led by Professor (Dr.) Mrinalini Jha who has been appointed as its Director.

JIHS will be a pioneering research institute housed in JGU that will serve as a knowledge hub dedicated to addressing Haryana's unique challenges through interdisciplinary research, innovative policy solutions, capacity-building initiatives, and actionable interventions. The JIHS will aim to advance Haryana's development agenda while aligning with global best practices and Sustainable Development Goals.

Created based on JGU's core values and mission of promoting interdisciplinarity and cross-fertilisation of research across its schools, JIHS will transform into a globally recognised centre for excellence rooted in JGU's commitment to fostering actionable interdisciplinary research. JIHS aims to produce cutting-edge research, promote intellectual and effective dialogue and transcend academic boundaries to produce applied research.

JIHS will have the following key goals to realise as a research institute at JGU to establish itself as an institute of global repute:

  1. Thought Leadership: Position the institute as a thought leader in regional studies, focusing on Haryana's socioeconomic development and policy innovation.
  2. Holistic Development: Address critical developmental challenges, ensuring equity, sustainability, and community empowerment.
