O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) has achieved historic rankings across disciplines in the prestigious QS Subject Rankings 2025, reaffirming its position as a global leader in higher education. In a remarkable performance, JGU has not only retained its long-standing dominance in Law but has also secured top rankings in five new disciplines, marking the expansion of its academic excellence and global influence.
The QS Subject Rankings are among the most prestigious in global academia, evaluating institutions based on rigorous parameters such as academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations, and international collaborations. JGU's stellar performance in these ranking parameters reflects our relentless pursuit of academic excellence, innovation, and global impact. The rankings consist of 50+ narrow subjects across five broad faculties: Arts & Humanities; Engineering & Technology; Life Sciences & Medicine; Natural Sciences; and Social Sciences & Management.
JGU offers more than 40+ degree programmes. These programmes fall under two of QS’s five broad faculty areas: (i) Arts & Humanities, in which JGU has been ranked No. 1 private university in India and 360th in the world; (ii) Social Sciences & Management, in which JGU has been recognised as the No. 3 private university in India and 274th in the world.
Under the Social Sciences & Management broad faculty area, there are 16 Narrow Subjects that QS ranks. Based on the programmes offered and research output, JGU was eligible to participate in 4 Narrow Subjects: (i) Law & Legal Studies; (ii) Politics & International Studies; (iii) Economics & Econometrics; and (iv) Business & Management Studies.
To rank the institutions by subject, QS considers academic reputation; employer reputation; research citations; H-index, an index that attempts to measure the stability of impact and quality of the work published by the institution's scholars; and International Research Network (IRN), a measure of efficiency of establishing stable research collaborations. QS analysed the reputation and research output of over 5,200 institutions. From this group, 1,747 were ranked across 55 narrow subjects and 5 broad subject areas, resulting in over 21,000 entries.
Reflecting on this extraordinary achievement, Mr. Naveen Jindal, Founding Chancellor of JGU, expressed his immense pride and said, "The recognition of JGU in the QS World University Rankings (By Subject) 2025 across multiple disciplines is a testament to the dedication and excellence of our faculty, students, and staff.
