The Centre for Learning and Innovative Pedagogy (CLIP) hosted the first session of the Fall 2025 Pedagogy Book Club on August 26. The session focused on bell hooks' influential 1994 book Teaching to Transgress: Education as the Practice of Freedom.
Faculty members from across JGU schools reflected on themes of liberatory pedagogy, including engaged teaching, Brazilian educator Paulo Freire's ideas, feminist solidarity, classroom practices, and the importance of building supportive teaching communities. They also shared their own classroom experiences, offering insights on how such approaches can enrich learning across disciplines.
