Biography

Dr. Sajitha U is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Director at the Centre for Community Mental Health (CCMH), Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences (JIBS), O. P. Jindal Global University. She holds a Master’s in Applied Psychology from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, and an M.Phil. from Periyar University, where she was awarded the Gold Medal in the Psychology Department. She completed her Ph.D. at Periyar University with an NCERT Fellowship, developing a scale to measure the Parent-Adolescent Relationship. Her research on this topic earned her the Best Paper Award at an International conference in Kerala.

Dr. Sajitha has over eight years of counselling experience in various private, government, and central government schools. She has also served as an Assistant Professor at a reputed university. Her teaching specializations include Developmental Psychology, Child Psychology, Positive Psychology, Counselling Psychology, and Health Psychology. Along with academic roles, she has delivered motivational talks to students and offered counselling support to parents and teachers.

In addition to her academic and professional experience, Dr. Sajitha has completed a certificate course in Special Education (Learning Disabilities) and has interned at the Regional Institute of Education (RIE). She is also actively engaged in volunteering, having participated in various initiatives, including a regional summit on childhood depression and training at the Ansar Institute of Psychological Medicine and Rehabilitation.
