JGU to host 2026 STAR Global Conference

 
JGU will host the 2026 STAR Scholars Network Global Conference from December 10 to 14 on the theme 'Flourishing and Sustainability in the Age of Artificial Intelligence'.

The STAR Scholars Network is a grassroots movement of scholars across borders. Each letter of the name STAR describes the values and commitments of the people who join the network: scholars who care about research for 1) social impact, 2) transnationally networked leaders, 3) academically-driven educators, and 4) researchers with ethics and integrity.

This multidisciplinary conference will witness scholars across the humanities, social sciences and STEM fields presenting their research and organising workshops. The aim is to foster dialogue that bridges technical innovation with ethical responsibility and sustainable futures. Sub-themes include:

  • Pedagogies to navigate and shape AI
  •  Redefining the role of educators and researchers
  •  The university's role in shaping-and being shaped by-AI
  •  UNESCO recommendations on AI ethics
  •  Ethical AI in finance, business, sports governance, arts, and ESG reporting
  •  AI in healthcare and engineering
  •  Emotional literacy in the age of generative AI
  •  Leveraging AI for people and planetary flourishing
