Faculty Research

Faculty Research

At Jindal Global University (JGU), the pursuit of a global research agenda is at the core of our mission to become a world-class institution of learning.

We strongly encourage faculty research through five key initiatives that aim to create an environment conducive to rigorous, transdisciplinary, and collaborative research.

Balancing Teaching and Research

We recognize the importance of balancing teaching responsibilities with faculty members' research aspirations. To facilitate this, we ensure that the teaching workload is appropriately managed, allowing our faculty to dedicate ample time and energy to their research endeavors.

Supporting Faculty Participation in Conferences: The University's Staff Development Policy empowers faculty members to engage in national and international conferences for presenting their research findings. By providing such opportunities, we foster academic exchange and collaboration on a global scale.

Research Centers as Hubs for Collaborative Research: JGU's research centers offer focused domains for faculty members to pursue their research interests while also facilitating collaborations with scholars from India and around the world. These centers act as hubs that bring together diverse researchers to participate in impactful collaborative projects.

Research Grants and Incentives: Through the Research Grants Committee, faculty members are awarded research grants to pursue individual research projects. Additionally, we incentivize faculty research and publications through the annual Research Excellence Awards and monetary awards for outstanding publications.

Impactful Research Output: Over the past six years, JGU's faculty members have produced over 600 publications, including research papers, articles, books, book chapters, and research reports. More than 50% of these publications are international, reflecting the growing impact and global recognition of our faculty research.

Enhanced Collaboration and Impact: Our commitment to faculty research extends beyond JGU's institutional boundaries. Faculty members, research centers, and institutes collaborate with external agencies and organizations on various research projects and consultancies, expanding the reach and impact of their work.

Preserving Academic Freedom: JGU remains steadfast in preserving institutional autonomy and academic freedom. We provide an environment that safeguards the intellectual independence of our professors, researchers, and students, allowing them to pursue knowledge and express ideas without interference.

Fostering a Global Research Agenda

Promoting Academic Freedom Globally:
Our commitment to academic freedom extends beyond JGU. Professor Stephen Marks, a prominent academic, visiting professor at JGU, and member of our Governing Body, emphasized the significance of academic freedom in the pursuit of knowledge and expression of ideas.

A Mark of Success:
JGU faculty research has gained recognition worldwide, with scholars and practitioners frequently referring to our work. The Sonipat Declaration on World-Class Universities in BRICS and Emerging Economies, resulting from the Times Higher Education BRICS and Emerging Economies Universities Summit, reinforces the importance of academic freedom and the dissemination of ideas without fear of reprisals.

Embracing an Inclusive Research Culture:
Between 2009 and 2015, JGU faculty members across all 10 schools have published in more than 200 reputed national and international journals. Moreover, they have contributed to esteemed national and international newspapers and magazines, solidifying our commitment to fostering an inclusive research culture.
