Programme Introduction

Data journalism combines the traditional nose-for-news with skills of data analysis and visualisation. Jointly offered by the Jindal School of Journalism and Communication and the Jindal School of Banking and Finance, our PG Diploma is India’s first-ever postgraduate programme in data journalism.

Recognising the need for individuals who can “interview data” and treat it as a news-source to glean facts about the economy and society, we have curated an innovative curriculum for working professionals and recent graduates.

We will equip our participants with knowledge and skills regarding multimedia research and storytelling methods, data-reporting sources and ethics, advanced analytics software-R, and visualisation tool- Tableau. Our candidates will have the opportunity to earn a Tableau Certification along with their Diploma.

They may take on internships in summer and winter, and they will go on to careers as data journalists and media professionals in corporate communications, media evaluation, public policy, and market research.

Two Degree Options

The Executive Programme enables working professionals to upgrade their skills and learn new quantitative storytelling techniques. Class schedule will accommodate busy, working professionals.

The Residential Programme enables recent graduates to continue their college education on JGU’s state-of-the-art campus designed by Stephane Paumier. Candidates will have the opportunity to participate in JGU student life with excellent library and gym facilities and myriad clubs and societies
