Climate Action is a platform dedicated to creating awareness and providing actionable insights into climate change, environmental conservation, and sustainable living. Its mission is to inspire individuals, businesses, and governments to take meaningful action towards building a healthier planet for present and future generations.
As part of this initiative, Earthwise or Otherwise is a weekly, climate news-based podcast led by 2nd year Corporate Communication & Public Affairs students, Ritvik Srivastava and Gayatri Parab. The series breaks down pressing environmental developments and translates them into clear, actionable steps for everyday listeners. By combining reportage, reflection, and accessible storytelling, the podcast creates a space where information meets action.
New Imaginations Research Centre at JSJC serves as the creative and institutional backbone for this podcast vertical. It provides the platform, resources, and editorial ecosystem that enable the show to take shape while fostering innovative approaches to climate communication.
Earthwise or Otherwise | Episode 1 - The Cost of Inaction | JSJC & CAL
What do weak climate targets, a lake full of dead fish, ignored methane leaks, and an overheating ocean have in common? They’re not just environmental problems. They’re decisions.
In the very first episode of EarthWise or Otherwise, we break down the week in climate — from India’s “walk in the park” 2035 targets, to Hyderabad’s Lake crisis, to the quiet withdrawal from COP33. Then we zoom out globally: an energy imbalance at record highs, methane leaks nobody responds to, and oceans absorbing more heat than they can handle.
Also in this episode, our vox pop segment dives into pop culture and fast fashion — because climate change doesn’t just live in policies, it lives in our closets too.
This isn’t just a roundup. It’s a reminder that climate change isn’t some distant catastrophe waiting to happen — it’s a series of choices we’re making every single day.
And the real question is: are we choosing to be EarthWise… or otherwise?
