An international Data Visualization Challenge virtually hosted by Canada-based University of New Brunswick (UNB) was conducted on 11-12th March’2021. 93 students from 7 disciplines in 38 data-driven teams from 8 countries including 5 Canadian provinces competed in the Data Challenge where more than 35 experts from 25 reputed Institutions served as mentors and judges.
Three B.Com. (Hons.) students of the 2019 batch of JSBF – Tashi Goyal, Prachi Baranwal and Yuvraj Singh – earned the Viewer’s Choice Award for Data Visualization based on popular vote of 300+ people who voted.
All teams in this competition had to use publicly available open data sets to make compelling software-based visualizations that fit at least one of the 17 topics of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. JGU’s ‘Team Datapreneurs’ represented by Tashi, Prachi and Yuvraj won the majority. They were awarded prize money of 250 Canadian Dollars.
