About The Programme

A career in finance is becoming more exciting than ever before! It combines a few of the most rapidly evolving industries, including banking, financial services, and digital technologies. Indian capital markets have been growing continuously over the past few decades, creating significant career opportunities for your graduates. To cater to this growing need of professionals in the Indian capital markets and financial services sector, B.Com. (Hons.) in Capital Market is jointly offered with NSE Academy. The programme enables students to develop skills through in-campus industry-related projects by NSE academy, market simulation software NSMART, visits to financial centres, industry seminars and workshops.

The programme enables students to develop skills to secure various career opportunities emerging in the field of finance, including financial services and capital markets.

Jindal School of Banking & Finance (JSBF) is a research-led, future-oriented, and interdisciplinary global school with a focus on developing a new generation of leaders for the financial services industry. The curriculum is crafted in consultation with industry experts to ensure that students receive dynamic and customisable coursework that is relevant to the industry. Additionally, the curriculum has a strong focus on developing communication and leadership skills.

To provide students with a comprehensive education, JSBF offers four interdisciplinary pathways, including Financial Planning & Management, Banking & Finance Law, Fintech & Analytics, and Global Consultancy & Entrepreneurship. With access to over 100 optional electives across 12 schools, students can tailor their curriculum to meet their specific interests and career goals.
JSBF prioritizes skill-based learning, with a focus on providing students with highly sought-after skills in the industry. This includes training on R, Python, Tableau, and MS Excel, as well as developing foreign language proficiency and communication and leadership skills. To further enhance students' career prospects, JSBF has partnered with industry leaders such as EY, KPMG, NISM, and NSE academy to offer professional certifications and training.

The B.Com. (Hons.) Capital Markets programme at JSBF requires applicants to have completed the 10+2 level of schooling or its equivalent in humanities, science, or commerce from recognized Boards such as CBSE, ISC, State Boards, IB, Cambridge, and other Government-recognized Boards.

Selection Criteria:
Applicants are selected through a holistic admissions process conducted over three rounds. 

Round 1: Screening of an Application form (includes extracurricular activities and performance in class Xth, XIth, XIIth)

Round 2: Qualify in an Entrance examination
(Jindal Scholastic Aptitude Test – JSAT/ SAT/ ACT/ UGAT/ CUET)

  • ACT – 27 and above
  • CUET- 60 Percentile and above
  • SAT India – 1100 and Above
  • JSAT – 50 % and above
  • UGAT- 60 Percentile and above
  • LSAT – 50 percentile and above

Round 3: Online Interview

Fee Structure:

Tuition Fee : Rs. 4,00,000 per annum
Residential Fee : Rs. 3,10,000 per annum

The B.Com. (Hons.) Capital Markets programme at JSBF is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the financial world. In the first year, students will be introduced to foundational concepts in microeconomics, macroeconomics, financial mathematics, business statistics, and financial reporting & analysis, among others. Additionally, they will develop proficiency in business communication and critical thinking, and gain practical knowledge of capital market operations through mandatory industry or research internships.

In the second year, students will delve deeper into advanced topics such as financial modelling, financial analytics (Python/R), and blockchain and cryptocurrency, and explore areas like equity research and commodities market through industry-specific electives. They will also gain hands-on experience with simulated market trading application, NSMART, and practical research projects with JSBF and NSE faculty.

The third year is designed to give students specialized knowledge in areas like mutual funds, equity research, and foreign exchange and currency derivatives. Students will have the opportunity to learn from senior industry experts who co-teach with JSBF faculty in the classroom and offer practice-oriented, cross-listed & industry-relevant elective courses. The programme also features CAPITAL, a comprehensive application by practitioners for impactful teaching & learning, which provides semester-long electives and lecture series that allow students to work on contemporary problems in finance, banking, financial services, insurance, and entrepreneurship in allied fields.

Upon graduation, students of the B.Com. (Hons.) Capital Markets programme at JSBF are awarded an NSE certificate, demonstrating their proficiency in financial markets. Additionally, the programme integrates four SEBI recognized NISM/NCFM certificates into the coursework. Students are also able to engage in professional development through vibrant faculty-assisted and student-led societies focused on preparation for certifications such as CFA/CFP/FRM.

JSBF supports students in their career development through NSE-sponsored live projects, internships, and final placements, as well as the support of JGU’s Office of Career Services. The JSBF Finance & Accounting Society (JFAS) aims to foster professional growth by promoting professional courses and certifications, and introduces its members to innovative learning tools such as stock market terminals and trading simulators.

The CFA programme is highly regarded and recognised globally by finance professionals, with holders of the CFA charter recruited for roles such as Portfolio Managers, Private Bankers, and Financial Strategists. The majority of courses offered by JSBF incorporate the CFA Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) to ensure the curriculum aligns with changing industry needs. Additionally, students have the opportunity to earn certificates from NISM and NCFM, which offer courses in equity, commodity, derivative, foreign currency, and mutual fund markets. The JSBF faculty supports students in earning these certificates while pursuing the B.Com. (Hons.) Capital Markets programme.
