Dr. Stavros Karamperidis
Dr Stavros Karamperidis is a Lecturer in Maritime Economics in the Department of International Shipping, Logistics and Operations at Plymouth University. Stavros is also regularly invited to deliver guest lectures at various universities and Merchant Maritime Academies around the globe. Some of Stavros recent funding that he has secured is from: Interreg North Sea Region (PI) (North Sea CONNECT https://keep.eu/projects/22159/), Horizon 2020 (CoI) (Cyber preparedness actions for a holistic approach and awareness raising in the MARitime logistics supply chain https://www.cyber-mar.eu/), Innovative UK (PI) (Cybersecurity Risk Assessment Box https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/801275/C ompetition_Results_-_Cyber_Security_Academic_Start-Up_Accelerator_Year_3_Phase_1.pdf) and EPSRC (CoI) (Decarbonising UK Transport Freight http://decarbonisingfreight.co.uk/who-we-are/research-themes/). He has been invited in various key commercial conferences to demonstrate his work on decarbonisation, physical and cyber security and on skills development in logistics and maritime transport sector. His primarily research interests are in: Shipping, Decarbonisation of maritime sector (Green shipping), Maritime logistics, Port management, Maritime Security (cyber and physical), Indices development, Business models application in maritime sector (strategy level), Maritime sector improvement with use of digital tools and sustainable management of food supply chains. Before joining academia, Stavros worked in various companies ranging from SME’s to multinational companies. Stavros is regularly invited to chair several key European and UK commercial and academic conferences (e.g. https://www.europeanfreightleaders.eu/next-conference/). Stavros is linked with Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) in various occasions, he is a Chartered Member, chairman for Devon and Cornwall and Member of the Ports, Maritime & Waterways Sector Forum. He is a maritime cyber security expert for ENISA (European Union Agency for Cybersecurity) and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Dr. Manoj Dora
Dr Manoj Dora is currently the Director of Collaborative Projects and Outreach at Brunel Business School. He is also heading the Operations & Information Systems Management Group. Manoj has several years of experience in teaching, research and consultancy worldwide. He is the founder of “Circular Food Forum” which brings together academic, industries and policy makers to facilitate dialogue and take forward research agenda. Manoj’s areas of specializations are Sustainable Value Chain and Quality Management with a focus on Lean Six Sigma in the agro-food sector. His research is an innovative application of cross-cutting operations management theories such as Lean and Six Sigma in the agriculture and food sector which will redesign agricultural production as it is today to improve efficiency and eliminate waste and losses. He has been involved in many capacity building initiatives focusing on the circular economy, humanitarian operations, industry 4.0 and food supply chain in Europe, Africa, South America and Asia. At the same time, he has also worked with over 50 SMEs to implement lean principles as part of their operations. Manoj has been successful in acquiring research grants from the World Bank, European Commission (FP7), British Academy, UKIERI, British Council, Newton Fund and several private companies. He is also appointed as a subject expert at the European Commission, ESRC, VINOVA in the field of food research and circular economy. He holds a PhD from Ghent University in Belgium. He has received a MA in Economics from Vanderbilt University in the USA supported by International Ford Foundation. He has several publications in the high impact journals and disseminated his research in reputed forum such as TEDx and Cambridge Festival of Ideas at the University of Cambridge.
Dr. Yigit Kazancoglu
Yigit Kazancoglu is a Full Professor at Logistics Management Department and department chair in Yaşar University, Izmir, Turkey. He has MBA from Coventry University and PhD from Ege University. The subjects he is working on are; operations management, sustainability, circular economy, green supply chain management, with more than 70 articles in indexed journals.
