Dr. Michael S. W. Lee

Dr. Michael S. W. Lee is an Associate Professor of Marketing at The University of Auckland. His expertise is in brand avoidance, consumer resistance, activism, and anti-consumption where he has been the Director of The International Centre of Anti-Consumption Research (ICAR) since 2005.Mike actively supervises PhD students in the area of religiously motivated boycotting, trust recovery following product crises, slow fashion and degrowth, and anti-consumption in emerging economies. His work has been published in top journals such as The Journal of Business Research; European Journal of Marketing; Applied Psychology; Journal of Public Policy and Marketing; Journal of Consumer Affairs; Psychology & Marketing; Journal of Product and Brand Management; Journal of Macromarketing; Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services; Advances in Consumer Research; Consumption, Markets and Culture; Australasian Marketing Journal; Journal of Consumer Marketing; and Journal of Consumer Behaviour. Mike continues to collaborate with industry, consulting on numerous real-world projects and has provided expert commentary for over 300 media engagements.


Dr. Nieves Garcíade Frutos

Nieves Garcíade Frutos is Associate Professor of Marketing at the University of Almería (Spain). Her PhD project on ‘environmentally and socially-oriented anti-consumption’ was awarded the best marketing dissertation at AEMARK 2016. Her research to date has focused mainly on anti-consumption and sustainable consumer behavior and has appeared in high-prestige journals such as the International Journal of Research in Marketing, Psychology & Marketing, Journal of Macromarketing, or the Journal of Business Ethics.


 Dr. Debasis Pradhan

Dr. Debasis Pradhan is currently a Professor of Marketing and is the Associate Dean, Executive Education at XLRI Jamshedpur, India. His academic interests include anti-consumption research, sustainability, consumer well-being, implementation intention research and impulse buying, and congruence research in sponsorship and endorsement. His papers are published/forthcoming in Psychology & Marketing, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Brand Management, Journal of Consumer Behaviour, Marketing Intelligence & Planning, Journal of Marketing Communications, Asia Pacific Journal of Marketing and Logistics, among others. He is currently co-editing a Special Issue of Journal of Consumer Affairs on ‘Pandemics and Consumer Well-being’.
