Dr. Kriti Gupta

Dr. Kriti Gupta is a licensed clinical psychologist, and for 5 years she has been directly engaged in catering to the needs of the students, especially those from the weaker section in Bihar, through teaching and counseling.

Kriti is a native of Allahabad (now Prayagraj), Uttar Pradesh, and has obtained her graduation and post-graduation degrees from the University of Allahabad. After earning her M.Phil degree in Clinical psychology at IHBAS in New Delhi, she enrolled at Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT-Patna) to pursue her doctoral degree. Her Ph.D. thesis has presented quantitative and qualitative study of the ideal mental state, anasakti (non-attachment), ahamkara (ego), from the layman’s perspective, and using their philosophical descriptions from Bhagavadgita and Yogasutras.

She has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and also served as a reviewer in research journals like Psychological Studies, Journal of Asian and African Studies, Journal of Public Health. She has presented her works at many national and international conferences and also attended numerous workshops and short-term courses for her academic advancement. Currently, she is engaged as a Co-project investigator in a research project funded by Dr.Ram Dayal Munda Tribal Welfare Research Institute, Ranchi, Jharkhand, in association with the Central University of Jharkhand, Ranchi.

Her academic achievements have earned her several national awards, and she has also been invited to give talks and conduct workshops for organizations such as the Uttar Pradesh Police, the Indian Institute of Health Education and Research, and T.M. Bhagalpur University. She provides counseling on the referrals in her part-time.

Kriti holds a wide range of experience in teaching and administration. Before joining JGU, she worked as an Assistant professor of Psychology selected by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) in T.M. Bhagalpur University, Bihar. She was the head of the psychology department in J.P. College, Bhagalpur, a constituent unit of T.M. Bhagalpur University. She also took charge of IQAC coordinator (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) in the same college for two years.

Her areas of specialization include Clinical psychology, Indian psychology, Positive psychology, and Mixed methods research. She is interested in studying human nature and strengths following Indian philosophy, the first-person method, and a mixed-methodology approach, in addition to researching well-being. Her future research plans include studying tribal mental health and investigating workplace behaviour from an Indian psychology perspective.
