Dr. Archana Rath is a political scientist with a PhD from University of Delhi. Her PhD research attempted to address the absence of a political theory around the concept of child citizenship in a substantive sense. It contributes towards the political and legal analysis of children in need of care and protection as defined in India’s juvenile justice legislation.
She has previously taught courses on Understanding Political Theory, Global Politics, Politics of Globalization, Perspectives on International Relations and World History, Political Processes and Institutions in Comparative Perspective and Public Policy in India. At JSIA, she teaches Foundations of Politics and Topics in Indian Politics.
Her research interests are at the intersection of Law, Politics and Policy. She worked with the Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation, where she conducted research on laws for children on education, child participation, digital abuse, inter-country adoption and bonded labour. Her legal and policy research inputs on child sexual abuse, child labour, juvenile justice, trafficking, one-stop centres and placement agencies have been shared with various tiers of government in India.
