Dr. Shyam Hari P is an Assistant Professor at the Jindal School of International Affairs (JSIA). He possesses a diverse professional background, having started his career in the hospitality industry, where he worked in a managerial capacity for an internationally renowned brand. However, his keen interest in conflict studies eventually led him to pursue his passion for international relations and political science.
He holds a Master of Arts degree in Diplomacy, Law, and Business from the Jindal School of International Affairs, OP Jindal Global University. He continued his academic pursuits and obtained a PhD in political conflict and alliance formation from the prestigious National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), Bengaluru, which was awarded by the University of Trans-Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology (TDU). He also received the NIAS fellowship for five years of PhD research.
His research and studies have centred on the dynamics of political conflict and alliance formation, reflecting his passion for understanding the complexities of social and political conflicts in different societies. He has authored multiple articles on conflict and published them in leading academic journals.
Dr. Shyam has extensive teaching experience at several prestigious institutions in India, where he has taught courses on conflict and peace, Indian government and politics, and political theory, among others, while also mentoring numerous students. He has successfully cleared the University Grants Commission’s certification examination for Assistant Professorship in Defence and Strategic Studies. Through his teaching, he motivates students to engage with complex issues related to social and political conflicts, fostering their critical thinking and innovative approaches to understanding conflict and the notion of peace.
