Jindal School of Environment & Sustainability

By offering a large number of B.A. (Hons.) Environmental Studies courses in India, JSES fosters curriculum, research, and collaborations of the highest standards, and with a global perspective, through a faculty drawn from and educated throughout the world. As we face an increasing array of environmental challenges, we seek to promote interdisciplinary studies, joint teaching and research programmes, and a comparative perspective on environment and sustainability issues.

Academics

JSES offers a three-year BA (Hons.) in Environment and Sustainability with a possible specialization of student’s choice within a wide pool of electives offered at JGU. JSES graduates must be able to understand the interrelation between the environment and society; to consider environment problems from a global perspective and take a local approach to solving them; to gauge the implications of decisions related to environmental policy

B.A. (Hons.)

The B.A. / B.Sc (Hons.) in Sustainable Development program is a niche, one-of-a-kind course that deals with many aspects of our social lives. The course envisages a plethora of subjects that will be offered and explored. Rural-urban linkages, land use, energy, climate change, air, water and toxic chemical pollution, water resource management, land use, sustainability, environmental economics, environmental policy, environmental crimes, sustainable agriculture, food security, natural resources management, and corporate social responsibility are some of the subjects that will be studied.

Dean's Message

How serendipitous that earth’s orbital location is neither too close nor too far from the sun. This fortuitous celestial arrangement made it possible for life to originate, evolve, diversify, and prosper on this planet. How blessed is human species that it appeared on the scene after a full tapestry of foods, flowers and fruits had come to occupy the earth-stage.

How grateful each day we must be that earth is our home and how mindful we must remain that we share this spaceship with myriad other life forms that predate our own arrival.
