The Jindal School of Environment & Sustainability (JSES) is India’s first environment and sustainability school for undergraduates. JSES fosters curriculum, research, and collaborations of the highest standards, and with a global perspective, through faculty drawn from around the world. The school provides interdisciplinary environment and sustainable development education through innovative teaching, impact-driven research, and practice-based engagement. The aim is to allow students to widen their horizon and develop skills required for solving the complex environment and sustainability challenges of our times.
The B.A. (Hons.) Environment & Sustainable Development program provides a strong understanding of environment and sustainability policies, practices, economic frameworks and scientific aspects through a multidisciplinary lens. Students will learn the skill sets required to critically analyse environment & sustainability issues such as climate change mitigation & adaptation, environmental pollution & health, financial mechanisms for environmental friendly technologies through the prism of social science, ecology, economics, policy and the law. The B.Sc. (Hons.) Environment & Sustainable Development program provides a strong understanding of the science and practice of environmental conservation and sustainable development through carefully designed foundational courses, science courses and practical & laboratory components. This is further enhanced through hands-on learning opportunities and intensive internships based learning. Students will be oriented with technological, mathematical, architectural and scientific skill sets required for critically analysing gaps in achieving the UN SDGs. Students will gain a comprehensive theoretical and practical education and will be trained to contribute to the environment & sustainable development sector in the sciences, engineering, energy, and sustainability domains.
How serendipitous that earth’s orbital location is neither too close nor too far from the sun. This fortuitous celestial arrangement made it possible for life to originate, evolve, diversify, and prosper on this planet. How blessed is human species that it appeared on the scene after a full tapestry of foods, flowers and fruits had come to occupy the earth-stage.
How grateful each day we must be that earth is our home and how mindful we must remain that we share this spaceship with myriad other life forms that predate our own arrival.
