The Jindal School of Environment & Sustainability (JSES) is working to lead the world towards a sustainable future with innovative teaching, practice-based learning, and impact-driven research. The world today is facing an increasing array of environmental challenges that require greater levels of innovation and collaboration among industry, government, academia, and communities at large. The ongoing environmental crises are accompanied by gaps in human resource development and relevant research at various levels. JSES aims to fill this gap by combining theory and practice of environment & sustainability studies, research, outreach, advocacy, and capacity building. The primary goal of JSES is to offer students a concentration in environment and sustainability studies with opportunities to explore how humans interact with the environment, including physical, biological, economic, philosophical, social and legal elements.

The minimum and maximum period of study and research shall be three years and six years, respectively, from the date of registration of the student.

Master’s Degree or any other degree recognized equivalent thereto in (a) Business Administration or Economics or Commerce or in allied subjects or in Engineering/Technology with at least 55% marks OR (b) Post Graduate Diploma in Management recognized as equivalent to MBA by AICTE with 55% marks or equivalent grade therein.

Professional qualification such as CA/ICWA/CFA/CS (both 5 year integrated or 3 years after graduation) with minimum 55% marks.

Applicants with more than 3 years of industry, teaching practicing, managerial / professional experience will be given preference.

Applicants shall be admitted to the Ph.D. Programme under one of the following categories:

• Full-time Ph.D. Student (with or without fellowship)
  • “means a person enrolled in the Ph.D. Programme devoting full-time to completing the requirements of the degree.”

• Part-Time Ph.D. Student (without fellowship)
  • “means a person who is registered in the Ph.D. program devoting part of his/her time to completing the requirements of the degree while discharging other employment obligations.”

Paying or offering any form of donation or capitation fee for admission to JGU is illegal, and individuals involved in such activities are liable for criminal prosecution.
