Bachelor of Design (Interior Design)
Bachelor of Design (Interior Design)
FOUR YEARS PROGRAMME
About The Programme
The Bachelor of Design programme offers a pathway in Interior Design, among others. The programme emphasizes experimental, experiential, and informed design processes to improve inhabited spaces. Students learn to imagine, propose, test, and refine their ideas about how to live and dwell in the contemporary world, and to anticipate changes in future built environments. The programme is taught by internationally-trained design professors and features professional practice courses that include new forms of social and technical knowledge.
The Interior Design Pathway focuses on developing critical and entrepreneurial design professionals who can think globally but are locally embedded. The programme is interdisciplinary and learner-centric, allowing students to simultaneously pursue their interests and progress vertically and laterally. The pathway also allows students to strengthen their skills and interests through a minor.
What Makes It Different at JGU
The Interior Design programme at JSAA is the only design programme in the country that has both a major and minor component. The major forms the focus and primary area of study, while the minor allows students to strengthen their interests and skills. This feature provides students with a more diverse and customizable curriculum that enables them to explore various areas of design.
The B. Des. Interior Design programme at JSAA is designed around the interests of the students, allowing them to have simultaneous lateral and vertical progression. The programme is designed to place student-centered inquiry as the core learning, providing students with a unique learning experience that encourages them to develop their own perspectives and ideas.
The programme integrates work experience into the curriculum, which forms the very bedrock of the program. Students gain hands-on experience through mandatory internships, live projects, and client interaction, which ensures seamless integration into the industry upon graduation.
To be eligible for admission, applicants must have completed the Class XII examination or an equivalent exam recognized by the government, such as CBSE, State Boards, IB, Cambridge, with a minimum of 50% marks. Students from all academic streams, including Arts, Commerce, and Science, are encouraged to apply.
The state-of-the-art tech-equipped facility available to Bachelor of Architecture students at Jindal School of Art and Architecture (JSAA) provides them with hands-on knowledge of design and architecture. The Digital Centre, Virtual Environment Lab, Foundation Studio, Environment Research Lab, Construction Yard and Lab, and Fabrication Lab offer cutting-edge resources to students for experimenting and applying classroom learning to real-world environments.
With access to these resources, students can test theories, explore new ideas, and gain an in-depth feel for design and architecture. This practical experience enables students to develop their skills and creativity, and prepares them to become competent architects.
