What is Criminal Psychology and MA/MSc Criminology Course?
The course aims at Understanding, combating, and preventing crime and focuses on developing skills to analyse complex criminal behaviour patterns, gather and interpret evidence, and contribute to the development of effective crime prevention and investigation techniques. The course has two specializations: 

Financial Crime Studies

  • The Financial Crime Studies specialization track will delve into the complex landscape of economic offenses. This dynamic curriculum will equip students with a comprehensive understanding of financial crimes, encompassing fraud, money laundering, cybercrime, and regulatory compliance. Students will explore forensic accounting, risk assessment, and investigative methodologies, gaining insights into global financial systems and their vulnerabilities. The program emphasizes the application of cutting‑edge technologies, ethical considerations, and legal frameworks in combating financial malfeasance. Through various practical training, case studies analysis, simulation exercises, and real‑world scenarios, students will develop critical thinking and analytical skills essential for roles in law enforcement, regulatory bodies, and private sectors combating financial crime

Police and Security Studies

  • The Police and Security Studies specialization track will delve into the multifaceted realms of law enforcement, crime prevention, and security management. This dynamic curriculum will equip students with an in‑depth understanding of criminal behavior, investigative techniques, and the social, legal, and ethical dimensions of policing. Through specialized courses in security management, intelligence analysis, and strategic security planning, students will explore cutting‑edge methodologies in crime control, risk assessment, and counterterrorism strategies. Students will gain practical skills in handling complex security challenges, honing critical thinking and decision‑ making abilities crucial for leadership roles in law enforcement, public safety, and security agencies with expertise and innovation

Programme Structure
  • To graduate, a student must complete the following꞉
    • A minimum of 100 credits which includes a combination of core courses, electives, dissertation, and internships.
    • 3 mandatory internships during summer/ winter break
    • Dissertation/ Capstone/ Fieldwork worth 8 credits by the end of Year 2
  • A student can either graduate with a degree in MA or MSc Degree for 
    • MA/MSc Applied Psychology
    • MA/MSc Crimes Sciences
  • MSc degree = complete science-based cross registered electives – specified by JIBS 
  • MA degree = complete arts based cross registered electives – specified by JIBS

Eligibility & Selection Process
  • Applicants for all postgraduate programmes at JIBS will be selected based on their performance in Jindal‑PMAT (Psychology Masters Admissions Test) and personal interaction
  • 50% marks in any undergraduate degree Preference꞉ Undergraduate degree with an emphasis in criminology, criminal justice, sociology, or allied discipline 
  • Choice of specialization will have to be made during the time of admission

Scholarships

O.P. Jindal Global University awards Merit cum Means  Scholarships (MCM). The MCM Scholarships covers the first  year tuition fee only. Scholarships applications are opened  by the University in July and will be awarded to eligible students in August 2024. The  eligibility criteria includes Income proof of parents, entrance exam, graduation score and faculty  interaction. Weightage will also be given to  curricular and non & curricular achievements.

Family ITR should be less than INR 30  lakhs per annum in the latest returns.

JGU has established tie ups with  AVANSE (ICICI), Dena Bank and Credila (HDFC) to facilitate educational loans for students who  are admitted to the M.A./M.Sc.  Applied Psychology and M.Sc. Psycho social Rehabilitation programmes.
