The Centre ’s objective is to lead research in the area of intellectual property, open-source and technology law. In particular, the members of the Centre focus their research on new and evolving areas such as patent prosecution, technology transfer, patent protection in the pharmaceutical and software industry, trademark protection to non-standard marks, development of copyright law in the digital era, protection for community rights and indigenous know how as well as alternatives to traditional forms of IP protection and open science understandings. The Centre encourages collaborative work with an interdisciplinary approach, the use of economic analysis and empirical methods to resolve complex social problems.
