Mission: The mission of the Centre for Research in Textile Value Chain for Sustainable Change (CRTVCSC) is to create impactful intellectual contributions by conducting interdisciplinary research focused on addressing the pressing challenges within the textile industry. Our aim is to foster a caring society and preserve art and culture by promoting sustainable practices, empowering women, and advocating for ethical and transparent business conduct. Through innovative research and development initiatives, we aspire to contribute to the development of a sustainable economy and promote good governance in Indian textile industry and textile workforce security in India.

Vision: Our vision is to be a leading research center at the forefront of driving positive change within the Indian textile industry. We envision a future where the textile value chain is characterized by sustainability, circularity, and ethical practices, leading to improved environmental outcomes, enhanced supply chain transparency, and empowered communities. By integrating cutting-edge technologies and fostering collaboration with industry stakeholders, we strive to address the evolving challenges and opportunities in the textile sector.

  1. Conduct interdisciplinary research to address the research gaps in the Indian textile industry, including the lack of lifecycle analysis, resource efficiency, sustainable sourcing, supply chain transparency, digitalization, consumer education, and policy frameworks.
  2. Develop innovative solutions to real-world business problems faced by the Indian textile industry, such as limited access to sustainable materials, high water and energy consumption, waste management, complex supply chain management, technology adoption, compliance with regulations, and consumer awareness.
  3. Collaborate with academia, industry partners, and government agencies to facilitate knowledge exchange, technology transfer, and capacity building initiatives aimed at advancing sustainability and circularity within the textile value chain.
  4. Promote interdisciplinary, experiential, and values-based education to nurture future professionals equipped with the skills and mindset required to drive sustainable change in the textile industry.
  5. Advocate for gender equality, social innovation, and the preservation of art and culture through research, outreach, and community engagement initiatives in the textile value chain.
  6. Ensure transparency, accountability, and ethical practices in all aspects of our research endeavors, fostering a culture of collegiality, teamwork, and diversity within the CRTVCSC community, Jindal Global Business School, and O.P. Jindal University at large.
