Empowering Every Student: JGU's Commitment to Inclusive Learning

JGU strives to cultivate an inclusive learning environment that caters to the needs of all students. For students with known disabilities requiring academic and other accommodations, registration with the Disability Support Committee (DSC) is mandatory.

The DSC offers a wide range of accommodations in compliance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, Mental Health Care Act 2017, and UGC Guidelines. Our support extends to various health and learning conditions, such as physical and movement-related difficulties, visual and hearing impairments, medical conditions, specific learning difficulties, and mental health conditions. Confidentiality is strictly maintained during committee discussions, respecting the privacy of the students.

Students with long-standing conditions are encouraged to register with the DSC at the start of each academic year, typically commencing in August. In cases where psychological support is sought, students are advised to meet with the counsellor before every semester to assess the need for any changes in support. Please note that the DSC requires a minimum of 14 business days to coordinate arrangements with the respective departments.

While the DSC does not offer emergency services, it actively collaborates with the Jindal Global University Health Centre and the Center for Wellness and Counseling Services. Additionally, we engage with various departments such as Hostels, Sports, Student Life and Cultural Engagement, Security, and Fire Safety Drills to ensure comprehensive support for our students.

Volunteers for Disability Support Committee

The Disability Support Committee is run with the support of volunteers. We have a high demand for volunteers in the following roles such as scribes, readers, and learning assistants.

All volunteers are requested to give consent for their records to be checked by the Disciplinary Committee and Sexual Harassment Committee. They are expected to sign the confidentiality clause to protect the identity of persons with disabilities on the campus.
