Meet Anjali Tripathi, Student, B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU).
One of Anjali’s favourite spots at JGU are the stairs looking out on the flagpole on the third floor in T4. “It’s a perfect place to get a full view of the greenery on campus, after my classes I usually grab a glass of milkshake and sit there for hours”, shares Anjali.
Currently, in her first semester, Anjali is usually spotted by her friends under one of the trees of the flagpole area, sketching a building or a group of friends or anything abstract that comes to her mind. “Sketching is something new to me. During the lockdown, I saw my mother (an artist) paint for hours. This inspired me to try my hands on this new form of art and enjoyed the process,” says Anjali. Since then Anjali has never stopped, while she started painting in acrylic medium, she now sketches and has been successful in selling some of her paintings locally and abroad.
While painting is something that instigates Anjali’s artistic energies, her interest in law is no less. She is amongst the few students from JGLS who have been selected for the Jindal-Oxford Short Term Study Abroad Programme being organised in June 2022. “After doing in-depth research about all Indian law colleges, I realised JGLS offers opportunities which align most with my interests, i.e., International Law and working abroad.”, shares Anjali while proudly showing her acceptance mail for the Short Term Study Abroad Programme.
For Anjali, JGU has been more than just a ‘university’. “Even though it has been just one and a half semesters of me being here, I have had experiences that have shaped me as a person. I am currently the class representative of my section, a volunteer at the Rotaract Club and the Child Rights Clinic, a Fresher Student Representative of the JGU Anti Ragging Committee and a Youth Conflict Mediation Certified Mediator. In future, I look forward to working with the Student Council. JGU is indeed the best decision I have ever made!”
At JGU Anjali’s support system is not only her friends but also the faculty members, “I really appreciate how helpful and approachable the faculty here is, be it grabbing a cup of coffee together during the break or working on academic papers together, it has been wonderful.” For Anjali, attending physical classes and actually experiencing campus life has been phenomenal,” When I think about the smaller things which make my day, it is the sunsets that I witness after classes every day from the third floor, the puppies that I meet during classes and feed biscuits to, the coffee and sandwiches from Honey bhaiya, and of course, the famed ATBC from chai tapri.”
As the sun starts to set and the flagpole area becomes a perfect place for Anjali to start her sketching, “I am planning on making a sketch of the university soon”.
