Sarah Zia

Sarah Zia is a journalist and independent researcher with interests lying at the intersection of media, mobilities, identities and urban cultures. Previously, she was an assistant editor at HT Media Ltd. Additionally, she was visiting faculty at NLSIU, Bangalore where she taught a media elective to LL.B., LL.M. and MPP students. She is also a qualitative researcher and her work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals and as book chapters. Most recently, she was awarded a research grant by the Centre for Internet and Society funded by Azim Premji University to conduct an ethnographic study of ride-hailing drivers in the platform economy.
