End Sem Exhibition - Fall '25
In a moment where design education is increasingly driven by deliverables, deadlines, and digital outputs, “Riyaaz 2025” reclaims the space of making as an act of iteration and reflection. It situates design not merely as a skill, but an inquiry — where making, representation, and communication are intertwined acts of critical imagination.
Design and architecture embody the ideals of democracy, justice and civic value as enshrined in the Indian Constitution. Although we encounter the effects of these constitutional values on design, architecture and public spaces, it is often inadequate in shaping equitable and sustainable built environments.
And now, with rapid digitization and automation, it is essential to envision design and architecture that advocates equality, equity and new forms of collective value.
Riyaaz reflects the philosophy and ideology of the Indian constitution by synthesizing ethics and aesthetics as its core beliefs. The exhibition seeks to display how the seeds of justice and social democracy as sown by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in the Indian Constitution continue to breathe life in the way we create, shape and experience the built environment.
The exhibition presents a pedagogical tapestry of the Jindal School of Design and Architecture — an unwavering commitment to the social, cultural and environmental dimensions of the profession interwoven into a studio culture of collaboration and informed by values of social responsibility and environmental stewardship. The exhibition highlights our design philosophy, program themes and methods while celebrating the creativity and initiative of our students.
Inspired by music, Riyaaz signals attentive repetition, iterative refinement, and a disciplined search for meaning. In design education, it becomes the space where ideas are tested, reworked, and made relevant to their contexts. Riyaaz reaffirms what design education should nurture: curiosity, criticality, and an enduring sense of responsibility to the world we collectively shape.
