Biography

Irfan is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences, O. P Jindal Global University (Institution of Eminence Deemed To Be University). Irfan has completed a Ph.D. in Psychology from the Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences. His doctoral study used mixed-method research to explore the pathogenic and salutogenic outcomes of adversity exposure among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. He has completed his M.Phil. in Child and Adolescent Psychology from Amity University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Rehabilitation Psychology from Composite Regional Centre Kashmir University. He is an RCI-certified psychologist. Irfan has over eight years of experience as a mental health professional, focusing mainly on the vulnerable population exposed to traumatic situations.

Previously, Dr. Fayaz worked as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the School of Liberal Arts and Humanities, Woxsen University, actively engaged in teaching, research, and institutional building. His innovative teaching philosophy incorporates courses such as “Reflecting Self” and “Existential Dialogue.” In the course “Reflecting Self,” Professor Fayaz emphasized the importance of self-awareness and introspection. This course involved exploring various psychological theories and practices facilitating personal reflection. Students may better understand themselves through lectures, discussions, and practical exercises, enhancing their personal and interpersonal skills. The “Existential Dialogue” course focused on existential psychology, which examines human existence, meaning, and freedom. This course involved studying existential philosophers and psychologists, engaging in reflective dialogues, and exploring how existential principles apply to real-life situations. At Jindal Global University (JGU), Dr. Fayaz offers cross-electives on “Trauma from Sexual Violence and Coping” and teaches other core papers

Dr. Fayaz has a Ph.D. in Psychology from the Jindal Institute of Behavioral Sciences, OP Jindal Global University, focusing on Trauma & Positive Psychology. His research focuses on the mental health outcomes in vulnerable populations, focusing on both pathogenic and salutogenic outcomes. His list of publications demonstrates a breadth of research interests, covering topics such as posttraumatic growth, posttraumatic stress disorder, suicide survivors, child neglect, sexual violence, and the impact of meditation on aggression and suicidal ideation. Dr. Fayaz’s active involvement as a peer reviewer for esteemed journals further showcases his dedication to maintaining academic rigor within the scientific community.
