Biography

Dr. Aasim Ur Rehman Ganie is currently working as Assistant Professor at the Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences, O.P. Jindal Global University. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. and MPhil in Psychiatric Social Work from NIMHANS, Bengaluru. His doctoral work focused on the social, environmental, and psychological factors influencing the psychosocial functioning of children with severe mental illness. He employed group work methods with parents and children with severe mental illnesses to investigate if children behave similarly in a homogeneous group where actions and situations are artificially designed. Dr. Asim holds a Master’s degree in Social Work with a specialization in Mental Health from the University of Kashmir. Dr. Aasim holds a robust background in behavioral and social sciences, coupled with a strong passion for teaching, research, and innovation. He has qualified UGC-NET/JRF and SET in the relevant subject. His professional experience encompasses clinical mental health, child and adolescent psychiatry, forensic and community psychology, psychosocial rehabilitation, program development, research, and advanced data analysis. Dr. Aasim has been instrumental in contributing and implementing the programmes such as Swatantra Clinic at NIMHANS for children in difficult circumstances and Family Support and Well-Being Programme at Government Observation Home for children in Bengaluru. Dr. Aasim is actively involved in conducting training sessions and workshops in psychology, social work, and mental health, and has been invited by various government and non-governmental organizations for these purposes. Moreover, Dr. Aasim has received several awards at national and international conferences in recognition of my contributions to child and adolescent mental health
