About the Centre

The Centre for Victimology & Psychological Studies (CVPS) was established in 2012 at JIBS, O.P. Jindal Global University. The Centre brings together interdisciplinary approaches from victimology, psychology, criminology, and allied fields to create a praxis-oriented body of knowledge. CVPS promotes high-quality research, education, and training; disseminates knowledge locally, nationally, and globally; and contributes to countering victimization through victim assistance, policy engagement, and community-based interventions. Since its inception, CVPS has organizes scholarly discussions and seminars as well as peer education programs, drug prevention and mental health awareness workshops for students. The Centre has worked on research projects related to these areas such as euthanasia, death penalty, conflict management etc. strengthening its role as a hub of victimological research and practice in India and beyond.

To be a globally recognized centre of excellence in victimology and psychological studies, advancing justice, dignity, and support for victims through research, education, policy, and community engagement.

Mission

  • Promote rigorous interdisciplinary research in victimology, psychology, and allied disciplines
  • Facilitate integration between criminology, law, forensic sciences, and behavioural sciences
  • Disseminate knowledge through conferences, publications, collaborative projects, and community initiatives
  • Provide training, education, and capacity building for professionals, practitioners, and students
  • Engage in policy dialogues and advocacy to strengthen victim assistance systems nationally and internationally.

Objectives

Organize international and national conferences, workshops, seminars, and symposia on victimology and psychological sciences.

Act as a documentation and resource centre by curating global scholarship in victimology and making resources accessible to scholars, students, and practitioners.

Publish the peer-reviewed journal Global Advances in Victimology and Psychological Studies.

Develop and conduct certificate programmes, training courses, and continuing education for practitioners in victimology, psychology, and criminal justice.

Provide internships, research assistantships, and experiential learning opportunities for students.

Facilitate postgraduate (Master’s/Ph.D.) research in victimology, victim assistance, and criminal justice.

Act as a Centre of Excellence supporting victim assistance and criminal justice efforts regionally, nationally, and globally.
