Sahiba Maqbool is a Lecturer at Jindal Global Law School. She has completed her BA LLB from the University of Kashmir in 2013 and LLM (masters in advanced studies) from the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights in 2014. She had served as a Researcher at the Indian Society of International Law from 2015-16. Her main responsibilities at the Indian Society of International Law included writing the Human Rights Committee Report for India. She was also involved in writing a comprehensive declaration for India on United Nations Convention on Law of the Sea. In addition, she has worked as an Advocacy Intern in Human Rights Watch, Geneva where her main function was to review and follow-up on the notable thematic issue at Human Rights Council and Universal Periodic Review procedures. She delivered statements on abolition of death penalty and prohibition of torture on behalf of Commonwealth Human Rights Initiatives at Human Rights Council. Her work in Global Detention Center as a Research Intern got her acquainted with the issues surrounding immigration detention particularly in India and the United States.
