Niharika Ahluwalia has studied for her Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Transnational Crime and Justice, with special focus in the fields of International Criminal Law and International Humanitarian Law. The LL.M was jointly organized by The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) and the University for Peace (UPEACE). She studied Bachelor of Law (LL.B.) from the Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. She is an alumnus of St. Stephens’ College, University of Delhi where she studied for B.A. Honors in History.

She is an Advocate-On-Record in the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. She also holds extensive experience before trial and High Courts across India. Being on the Panel of Lawyers of the Delhi Development Authority, she has advised the State on various intricate and complex issues inter-alia, on the formulation of policy for rehabilitation of the Internally Displaced Perons in India as well as provision of housing & compensation for the same. She was nominated counsel for the Legal Aid Services Authority, and rendered legal advisory services to deserving litigants on pro bono basis. Further, she has managed and advised on cases involving substantial questions of law with regard to anti-corruption statutes, criminal jurisprudence, matters involving extra-judicial actions by defence forces, the constitutional challenge to the amendments of statutes such as the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, etc.

Her core focus has thus been constitutional, corporate, civil and criminal laws. During her graduation period, she was the Convenor of the Moot Court Society. She also has spoken at seminars and conferences pertaining to International Criminal Law and International Humanitarian Law. She has delivered several lectures at Post-Graduate and Diploma Course in Human Rights, International Humanitarian and Refugee Law conducted by the Indian Academy of International Law and Diplomacy, Indian Society of International Law.
