Prof. Nikhil Naren and Prof. Spriha Bhandari, Assistant Directors at the Centre, participated in a multi-stakeholder roundtable hosted by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, in partnership with the ProductNation / iSPIRT Foundation and the Centre for Responsible AI (CeRAI). The roundtable examined India’s institutional, technical, and legal preparedness for the techno-legal regulation of AI, bringing together policymakers, technologists, academics, and practitioners.
Prof. Bhandari contributed to the discussion by highlighting India’s urgent need for a shared, operational taxonomy for AI systems and risks – a foundation without which coherent regulation becomes difficult to design and implement. The roundtable forms part of the ongoing preparatory work ahead of the AI Summit. The White Paper by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser is available at: [here]
