Introduction to Masters in Public Health Programme
The Masters in Public Health (MPH) is a highly innovative and specialized programme of study developed by the Jindal School of Public Health and Human Development (JSPH). The flagship Masters Programme being offered by the JSPH consolidates JGU’s extensive engagement in the field of public health in India. Grounded in a Global Health approach and building on a vast network of national and international collaborations, the MPH is a culmination of JGU’s dedication to promoting public service.
The MPH is a research-intensive two-year postgraduate degree programme that enables students to attain foundational training, skills and competencies to embark on a career in public health both in the Indian and global context. Building on the level of internationalization at JGU, the programme introduces students to a multiplicity of approaches and seeks to build competencies through a range of core courses, electives, specializations, dissertations and capstone options. In addition, students have the options of undertaking semester exchange and study abroad programmes with key institutions and centers of excellence in public health. In terms of outcomes, the students of the programme will be able to acquire the set of competencies, skills, and values based on the essential MPH Competencies designed by the Council for Education in Public Health (CEPH), United States of America

The fields of public health and global health are open to interdisciplinary influences, and this is reflected in the intake of students. While both science and non-science graduates are eligible, the programme will also be useful for mid-career professionals working in health and other settings. The programme is open to both international students and students from India. With reference to India, students with degrees in Medicine, AYUSH, Dentistry, Veterinary Sciences, Allied and Health Sciences, Life Sciences, Statistics, Biostatistics, Demography, Population Studies, Nutrition, Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology and Social Work, as well as any other related degree, would be eligible.
