Sambuddha Chaudhuri, graduated with a Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from West Bengal University of Health Sciences in 2010, and a PhD in Social Welfare from School of Social Policy and Practice at University of Pennsylvania in 2017.He worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Centre for Policy Studies in 2018 to 2021.
His areas of interest are social epidemiology, social determinants of health, and policy theory. His work includes analysis of the policy process, implementation and evaluation for public health issues around infectious diseases like tuberculosis and HIV, with a focus on the individual, meso and macro level changes that allow for a comprehensive understanding of problems such as low adherence,access to care and post care follow up. He has worked with community based organizations in Kolkata and New York City on gender, sexuality, health-care access, adherence to medication, health education, substance use, behavioural economics and social organization. He has taught graduate and post graduate courses on social policy, health policy, epidemiology and qualitative methods

Research methods class for graduate students, where the course work was divided into several modules. Instructor for the module on Grounded Theory for Qualitative Research methods.
Health Policy: An Introduction (PS 619) – August 2021- November 2021, August 2020-November 2020, July 2019- November 2019, and July to November, 2018 – Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay
The course was a masters’ level module, which offered an introduction to the principles of epidemiology, health statistics, and political science of state and policy and health policy history in India. Designed and co-taught the class with faculty mentor Prof. Arnab Jana.
Contemporary Social Policy (SWRK 711) – Spring, 2016- University of Pennsylvania
The course offered an overview and critical evaluation of current US public policy in areas such as health, social support, housing, criminal justice system, education, and housing. This was a required course for master of social work, elective for master of social policy and cross listed with Graduate School of Education, Annenberg School of Communication. Instructor for the class, redesigned readings, and assignments within the rubric of the approved syllabus.
Action Research (SWRK 743)-Summer, 2016- University of Pennsylvania
The course was an introduction to the principles of community based participatory research or action research. Relevant theory of research, a practical outline for a project along with illustrative case studies formed the focus of this course. This was an elective course for research credits in master of social work and master of social policy.

International Nonprofits and Development (NPLD 582)-Fall, 2015- University of Pennsylvania
Elective course for degree in non-profit leadership development, master of social policy and master of social work in School of Policy and Practice and cross listed with The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. This course focused on the theory and practice of development projects in the global south with an emphasis on the economics, politics and issue specific problem solving for international non-profits. Acted as teaching assistant which included helping the instructor to adapt/upgrade the syllabus, facilitate seminars and invited talks and grading weekly and final assignments.
