Prof. Dr. Jagdish Batra, an academic, author, commentator and social activist, is currently Professor of English and Executive Dean at O.P. Jindal Global University, which he joined in 2012 as the Founding Head of English Language Centre. Prior to it, he worked as Principal and Head of PG Dept. of English in different colleges. He has around four decades of teaching experience and has guided some 50 research scholars. His areas of specialization include contemporary Indian English fiction and Culture Studies. Prof. Batra has presented research papers as also presided over several international conferences in India, Europe and South East Asia. He was presented the Research Excellence Award by JGU in 2020 and 2021. He is the Convener of eight annual international literary conferences organized at the university. A former Rotary International Study Exchange Scholar to USA, Prof. Batra has published eleven books besides 60+ research papers in leading journals. He is on the editorial boards of three literary journals and research panels of many universities. Apart from it, he is a regular contributor to The Times of India and other national dailies and has written a large number of general articles.
